Fragrance by Natori

I am so, so ready for fall.  It’s been way too hot here in Los Angeles and I’d really like to be able to walk around outside without instantly looking like I’ve just run a marathon.  I’m also in a hurry to start wearing all the new fall scents and makeup collections that I’ve been seeing online and reading about.  (Is it just me or do they ALL look amazing this year?)  One fragrance that I know I’ll be spritzing on when the weather gets a little cooler here in Los Angeles is the new NATORI from Josie Natori.

I got a sneak preview of the scent last month and it’s delectable.  It’s a floral oriental that opens with a bouquet of fresh rose petals that are touched by deep, dark plum notes.  The heart is a mysterious blend of ylang ylang, purple peony and night blooming jasmine, followed by notes of black patchouli, amber, and a hint of satin musk.  I’m not a huge fan of florals, so when I first read the description, I wasn’t sure I was going to like this scent, but to me, the oriental notes stand out the most.  I can definitely recognize the amber and black patchouli, which linger on my skin all day.  It’s a warm fragrance (which is why I’m not wearing it right now in the 98 degree temperatures!) and it’s very striking, the kind of scent that you wear when you’re feeling confident and aren’t afraid to stand out.  It’s definitely not a fragrance for wallflowers.  (Does anyone still use the word “wallflowers” anymore? I feel like I just used a reference from the 1800′s or “Little House on the Prairie.”)  I’m also one of those people who checks out the bottles as much as the actual fragrances and NATORI’s bottle is gorgeous.  It’s a deep purple flacon that was inspired by the Lotus blossum.  It’s very rich and luxurious looking and perfect for displaying on a vanity or in your bedroom.

NATORI is available now exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue.
