New York Fashion Week SS10: Alice + Olivia

Some designers may be content with just a presentation, but for Stacey Bendet nothing less than an A-List party complete with open bar, live band and celebrity guests including Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Szohr, Tinsley Mortimer, and Mena Suvari, would do for her label Alice + Olivia. Last night, she showcased her Spring Summer 2010 pieces to editors, stylists and celebrities in 4 tableaus at a trendy Meatpacking space to the music of The Plastiscines.
JSG Anne and I met up to check out the pieces before heading back to the tents. Even as a perennial Alice + Olivia fan, I was particularly taken aback by the beauty of her new collection. Bendet mixed a mostly neutral palette with shots of sorbet colored dresses that are so pretty I can’t wait for them to hit stores despite my long standing protest against ombre. Her more sex-bomb pieces such as leather and skintight denim are paired with softer counterparts making the final look more feminine than edgy. The final results? A little bit of sugar, a little bit of spice, and a lot of nice.
