TDO Sponsored Giveway: The New Talbots
Some of you may remember a few weeks ago, we posted a mysterious campaign by Red Chair Confessionals for a mysterious brand.
As it turns out, the brand behind the mystery is none other than Talbots! It’s true, the same Talbots that had completely fallen off my radar since the day I convinced my mom to trade in her dowdy suits for something more fashionable. Sure enough, a quick search shows that Talbot’s isn’t even mentioned on our site…not even one time!
So when I found out that Talbots had sponsored our post that day, I was curious and hit up their website. I learned that they had recently tried to rebrand as a shopping destination for the younger crowd, so I headed over to see how successfully they were doing this. Verdict?
Well, for someone who spends an extraordinary amount of money buying shoes like this, I can’t say I immediately got on board with what Talbots was offering. But, I will say that I was pleasantly surprised to find pieces that I actaully would wear (maybe, even with those sandals!). Pieces like this elegant fitted sheath dress, this rich beautiful blazer, and this large suede hobo tote which I’m actually kind of dying to get. I also found this whimsical Day in Paris scarf that I thought was so cute!
Talbots certainly has taken a big fashionable step up since the last time I stepped into their stores. Am I going to be scouring its racks to fill up my wardrobe for next season? No, probably not; but it’s gone from complete non-existence in my mind to another resource for closet staples and work clothes – with a touch of Charlotte York chic even! As Talbots is sponsoring this post, they want to gift four TDO readers $250 gift certificates to check out the new collection for themselves!
The Contest begins at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) on September 17, 2009 and ends at 11:59 p.m. EST on October 16, 2009 (the “Contest Period”). Entries will not be acknowledged.
Selection Of Winners: At the end of the Contest Period four (4) entrants will be selected by the Sponsor from the eligible pool of entries. (We pool and number all the eligible entries, tally up the total, and use randomgenerator.com to pick a winner).

I’m excited about Talbots’ new line. At the top of my wish list is a pair of their leopard print flats!
Also pleasantly surprised! I always thought of Talbot’s as a “mom store,” especially once Kirsten Cohen made a dig at them in an old episode of the OC, but they’ve really made a shift, it appears.
I like the buckled cardigan, and some of the purses are pretty cute. Not bad at all for a rebranding effort!
This is great! Kudos Talbots!! Can’t wait to go shopping when I get to the Talbots nearest me…I WILL be checking the new stuff out!
I actually never stopped shopping for certain items at Talbots because they carry narrow shoes and pants that fit me better than any others. I love the new look, and I’ll keep being a loyal customer. Their quality is consistently outstanding, in my opinion.
Talbot’s has definitely improved since the last time I have walked into their shop! I love the suede hobo bag and will definitely check out Talbot’s new selection.
Ah the Talbot…I have loved this store forever!! Years ago, when I was 19 -I lived in Newport RI where their fashion was so on point. As years have passed I have mixed their classic pieces with vintage & trendy to reflect my electic style.
Love the hobo bag, camel coat and can’t wait to wear my classic Talbot’s linen white shirt under one of the new cashmere sweaters!
Definitely a step up from the last time I glanced in a Talbot’s store. I have never even tried on their clothes before, but I really love the Windsor Plaid Sheath and the Classic Trench. So cute!
The collection is really pretty. I have memories of my mom also shopping at Talbots when I was younger — the red doors always thrilled me.
This is so ironic– about a week ago, I was sitting (kind of bored) at my boyfriend’s parents’ house, and picked up his mom’s Talbot’s catalog off the coffee table (very half-heartedly)… I was blown away. I almost asked her if I could take it with me. I have to dress pretty conservatively for my job, so a lot of the cuts on their stuff fit that requirement. But the vivid colors are such an added bonus. That magenta/pink shift dress was one of my favorites. I can’t find stuff like that in colors other than black, grey, navy… until now! I am still trying to narrow down my choices.
I would have never known! I suppose their image shift has worked since I really do want that sheath dress! As for the scarf, I don’t know if I would wear it but I would almost rather hang it up on my wall as it’s so pretty!
I actually saw a croc handbag featured in one of my magazines the other day from Talbots that I want. They weren’t on my radar either before that, but I intend to stop in and look for that bag the next time I’m near a Talbots.
Talbot’s has gone a long way to rebranding their look. The fitted sheath dress looks like a great find! I could easily wear it from work day to evening, without missing a beat. I am a mom of 2 young children and so I am cautious about styles I wear, but this new “look” from Talbot’s seems to bridge the gap of stylish yet sophisticated and a little conservative.
So many choices and I have a hard time picking but I will go with the Cabled V Neck Sweater. Great colors! I love the dusk.
I walked by their store everyday and always like their window display, epscially their accessories. However, I never step in because my friend told me once that only older ladies are allowed in there. I would love the tote though!
I’ve always been really impressed with the quality of the clothes at Talbots. My favorite item would have to be the Ponte knit surplice bodice dress. Their dresses are really versatile.
I have been a loyal Talbots customer for years and have found the clothing there appropriate for a lawyer but hipper than some traditional dowdy places. I really like the new lower prices too
Wow… I haven’t heard of Talbots in the longest. How nice and gernerous of them to offer you guys this amazing giveaway. I have just checked out their site and stuff is not looking bad. I’m actually digging the Quilted Barn Jacket http://www1.talbots.com/online/browse/product_details.jsp?id=prdi23073&rootCategory=cat70008&catId=cat80020&sortKey=Default§ion=Regular&conceptIdUnderSale=. It looks very classic casual for everyday wear.
I love the Herringbone peacoat and would get that in red. It pops!
I also like the buckled cardigan in all the colors.
They have an awesome petite selection.
I love Talbot’s selection of gorgeous petite clothes, especially the PEACOAT in BLACK/ROSE! So chic!!

Hi, I’m so glad I found your blog!!! I cant believe they have my size! My mom likes Talbots but I never thought of it as a place I would consider until I saw the Bias tweed cardigan, the Herringbone peacoat in red berry, and I want the Zebra Trouser socks :)
I am in love with the wrap dress in the color Magic (a deep royal purple). I think that color is perfect for winter. Gorgeous!
I’m eying the belted shirtdress, which is so mad men and perfect for work. The cashmere sweaters look nice also.
Every week I check out the store and find something new. The textures, fabrics, and colors are incredible.
i think the ‘Faux-fur wrap’ listed under cold weather accessories is perfect for when a Hollywood entrance is in order!!
Jones New York and Ann Taylor have been my go-to stores for my work wardrobe. I read about Talbot’s re-vamp, and checked out their website– and then a store. I now have three career wear stores! Nice job redefining a brand!

My favorites are the crepe twist-front dress and the silk ruffle blouse.
