Become Body Conscience

The older I get, the more interested I become in using products that are natural and good for the environment.  It’s not always possible, but with the new Body Conscience line, you can get the best of both worlds – great products that you’ll love using that are also good for the planet.

Founder Barbara Schiller considers herself a “mother, chemist, entrepreneur, and conservationist.”  She started creating the products that would eventually turn into Body Conscience in her kitchen with the intent to help users save two of their most important resources: water and time.  (Did you know that if everyone in the U.S. trimmed their showers by a minute a day, we’d save over 160 billion gallons of water a year?)   The brand has a 3R philosophy: Renew, Reuse and Replenish, which is obvious when you start playing around with any of their 16 multi-functional products.  The products are available in three signature scents:

Body Conscience’s signature product is the innovative 3-Minute Shower.  It’s available in two different formulas – in a bar or in a jar – and both let you complete all the shower steps of exfoliating, cleansing, and moisturizing in a brief 3 minutes.  The formula resembles a scrub and you simply apply it to your dry or damp body (I’ve been doing it in the shower before I turn on the water) and massage it all over before turning on the water to rinse it off.  I was slightly skeptical when I first learned about it, but it works amazingly well.  (It’s also nice because since you’re not dodging the water, you really get a chance to reach everywhere before taking it off).  It leaves me clean, smelling fantastic, and with amazingly soft skin.  I’ve been using the one in a jar and what’s really convenient is that refills are available in recycled/recyclable pouches.  When you’re scrapping the bottom of the empty jar, you just snip the top of a new pouch and refill the jar from there.  A more economical and eco-friendly way of using the product you love!

Another product that I’ve tried and loved is the Body Veil.  I was always kind of afraid of dry oil sprays because I didn’t want to have to stand there for 10 minutes while they dried and I really didn’t want to feel greasy all day.  Neither one of those things happened with the Body Veil.  Made with a blend of essential oils, it’s a really light oil that absorbs into my skin within a minute or two.  It’s really hydrating and moisturizing and there’s no greasy feeling once it’s dry.  I’m a big fan of the Renew scent in this product – it’s light and comforting, the perfect start to my day.  (It’s also great for those of us who are kind of lazy in the morning because it takes less time to apply than a lotion).

The line also includes a Wearever Whenever Body Balm, which is super rich and luxurious.  (It’s so thick that if I turn the jar I have my sample in upside down, the cream doesn’t even move!)  It’s an all over cream, but I like using it on the places that need extra moisturizing, like my elbows and my feet.  And Barbara really though of everything when designing the line – instead of giving you one big jar that’s not really portable, the balm is sold in sets of 3 smaller containers so you can keep one in your bathroom, throw one in your gym bag, and leave another on your desk at work.  (Such a great idea!  I wish more brands would do something like this).
