Accessories, Fashion, Jewelry, Lust List, ShoesLust List: October 2009

ONE. Loeffler Randall Matilde Boots — I’m quite desperate for a pair of black boots this fall and have been lusting after these Loeffler Randall boots ever since they debuted (quite a few season ago). They’re made of beautiful black leather; I imagine they’ll fit comfortably and will probably last forever. Sadly, they’re out of my reach at $695. Someone want to order me a 6.5/7? - Connie

TWO. Hermes Kelly Double Tour Bracelet — Hermes must be doing something right when 2 editors randomly selected a Lust List item from its collection the same month.  I, too, have the Birkin on my all-time lust list, but this season I chose to go with something a little more affordable and seasonal- though just as luxurious! Recently, I’ve fallen in love with the look and feel of leather (another trend this month!) jewelery, which I find adds an unexpected touch to any outfit.  I particularly love the simple sophistication of the Double Tour Bracelet and would pair it with a long grandpa cardigan with black leggings for the fall.    - Carolyn

THREE. Gerard Darel Dublin 24 Hour bag — Gerard Darel is one of my favorite handbag brands for its relative affordability, gorgeous designs, and uniqueness (especially in the US, where it is not distributed as much). The Dublin 24 Hour bag has been seen on celebs like Halle Berry, Cameron Diaz, and Angelina Jolie, and I’m adoring it, especially now that it’s autumn. With its hand-knit sweater-esque look, wouldn’t it look so cozy to carry on a cold day? The little pompoms are also so adorable and Rumor carries it in 2 lovely fall colors–navy and grey. Either would look great, though at $549 for a sweater bag, I’ll have to covet it from afar. - Nina

FOUR. Hermes Birkin Bag — I recently finished Bringing Home the Birkin, a fun, sartorial read about one man’s guide to the secret of acquiring the renowned Hermes Birkin bag, named after iconic actress, Jane Birkin.  The Hermes Birkin bag is the ultimate lust list item, as just having money alone will not give one the capability to purchase it.  There is a year-long waiting list in addition to a hefty price tag. Similar to the Chanel 2.55, this is one bag that is truly timeless and can be seen carried by women of all ages, ranging from the Olsen twins to Julia Roberts to Carla Bruni.  I’ll never forget when I used to work in the Grand Central station area and was walking behind this woman, that I couldn’t help but admire from behind, with her crisp, oversized white button down shirt, gamine leggings and Repetto ballet flats, and pulled back hair swept into a clean ponytail.  She stood out amongst the business casual dressed workpeople swarming the area, with her elegance and classic style.  Imagine my surprise when I finally passed her in walking and saw that this elegant woman was actually well over 50!  She was also carrying my first real in person sighting of the Birkin, in 30 centimeters, with palladium hardware and a black luxe crocodile.  Although I love the classic black, my choice for this Lust List is the Blue Jean color, an interesting and bright pop to any outfit.  As I like to stuff quite a lot of things into my bags, my choice would be the 45 centimeter, also with palladium hardware, and while I’m at it, I might as well have it all and also request a chic, white Hermes scarf to match to loop through the handles. - Kathleen

FIVE. William Rast Leather Biker Jacket — I’ve been seeing leather jackets in so many different magazines lately and it’s making me want one very, very badly. This grey leather biker jacket from William Rast would be so versatile in the (not so cold) winter weather we get here in Los Angeles because I could pair it with jeans or use it to add edge to a ruffled dress for a night out. I love the off-center, asymmetrical zip closure and the fact that the leather looks so buttery soft. Alas, I cannot spare $528 at the moment for it, but I’m keeping my eye out for a similar, less expensive version to bring home with me. - Stacey

I’d have to add Jason Wu’s cashmere ostrich feather coat to my Lust List. That ladylike top, and those cascading ruffles of ivory/amber feather … yum.
