Shiseido’s Fall & Holiday Boston Launch

I’ll admit it; unlike most of the other TDO editors, I’m not a beauty junkie. While I love the occasional blowout, massage, or splurge on makeup, but my indulgences are normally of the food, libation, or travel variety. When I came across the opportunity to attend the Shiseido Fall & Holiday Boston Launch at the Mandarin Oriential, I was nervous! And intimidated! But let me tell you, not only did I have a fabulous time, but learned about Shiseido’s new products (and fell head over heels for a few!).
Nicole, Shiseido Cosmetics America’s PR Director, was gracious enough to introduce us to two of her assistants who talked, walked, and demonstrated us through Shiseido’s new offerings. To be honest, I wasn’t all that familiar with Shiseido to begin with, but was very impressed with everything I discovered and tried. While I don’t wear dramatic makeup, eye application is my favorite, and I was/am really excited about Shiseido’s 2009 Holiday Collection line of eye products. Called Rich Rocks by Dick Page, the Holiday Collection was inspired by Page’s personal collection of stones he found while literally searching the Four Corners of the US. Studying the rocks’ colors and textures, the makeup shades include dramatic hues like Pyrite Crystal, Intense Team, Rose Quartz, and Septarian. I was surprised how much I liked the Blue Stone Luminizing Satin Eye Color, a deep inky blue, which the makeup artist used in combination with other shades to create a slightly smokey, yet natural and fun look. She also used the Perfect Mascara in Intense Teal, which didn’t look at all green on my eyes, but certainly “different” and made my eyes “pop.”

Encouraging my lipstick/gloss/balm addiction, I instantly became hooked on the Perfect Rouge Lipstick. First, I was skeptical because it looks hot pink on its own; however, it’s not only a complimentary opalescent pink that is complimentary to basically any skin tone, but super hydrating!
I was also introduced to Shiseido’s ZEN Eau de Parfum, also part of the Limited Edition Holiday Collection. I don’t know what I’m going to do once they run out, because I’m pretty sure this is meant to be my “signature scent.” Shiseido is calling this their “scent of joy,” and I will attest that this is a 100% accurate description. With the top notes of blue rose, citrus, and fruit, in combination with floral notes, white musk, and even patchouli as length of wear increases, the scent is complex without being overpowering. I’ve never experienced a scent with so much depth without being overwhelmingly strong. I know what I’m asking for for Christmas!
Finally, you can’t talk about Shiseido without mentioning skincare. Shiseido’s Future Solution LX took 7 years to research to create, all while pinpointing a key ingredient, Skingenecell1P, which promotes production of strong, healthy skin cells for a more youthful complexion. Their four products, to be used together, include: Daytime Protective Cream SPF15, Concentrated Balancing Softener, Extra Rich Cleansing Foam, and Total Revitalizing Cream. The first thing I noticed about these products is that a little goes a long way; the lotion only requires you use a size of a pearl, and just about the same with the cleansing foam (which really is, EXTRA rich). I tend to be a slacker when it comes to taking care of my skin, but after using these products for only a few days, I’ve noticed a major difference in hydration and general “glow” to my skin.
Make sure to go and check out the newest products from Shiseido; they really are fabulous! The Future Solution products are currently available, with the holiday collection hitting stores in November.

I grabbed the Alchemy shadow the other day at you lovely ladies suggestion, and now I have to go back and check out more stuff! I’m intrigued by the blue rose scent in Zen – I’m positive that’s something I’ve never smelled before.
