The Beat Goes On

I try to try to treat my skin as well as possible.  I wear a high SPF sunscreen, I never go to bed without washing my face, and I go for facials as often as I can swing it.  But still, you can never be too careful with your skin, so when I got the chance to try the ANSR: BEAM, I jumped at the opportunity.

The ANSR: BEAM uses Phototherapy to help treat any problems your skin might be having and to rejuvenate it.  In Phototherapy, red light is used to stimulate collagens to help create new, healthy skin cells at a quicker rate than usual.  It also helps to even out skin tone, reduce redness, and fill in fine lines and wrinkles.  Blue light has been approved by the FDA to safely combat the bacteria that causes acne and inflammation, which helps to reduce blemish outbreaks.

The ANSR: BEAM a small, circular device that gives off those high-intensity red and blue light waves, but contrary to how that may sound, it’s very simple to use.  Basically, you just press a button to turn the light waves on, then place the disc directly on your skin and slowly glide it back and forth.  The device even takes care of timing the treatment.   The first time you press the button, the blue light comes on and stays on for the duration of the 5 minute treatment.  Then it automatically turns into the red light, which then stays on for another 5 minute treatment before automatically shutting itself off.  So you don’t have to think about anything – you just press a button and then use the device on yourself.  The recommendation is that you do it once or twice a day, so it’s not a huge time commitment (always nice).

So does it work?  That’s a little tougher to say.  I’ve been using it fairly regularly for about 6 weeks and my skin definitely looks good, but as with all treatments like this, it’s hard to know how much the BEAM has to do with that since I’m lucky enough to have usually clear skin anyway.  There are a lot of before and after photos on their website though and it really looks like people with acne see great results from it, so it might be aimed more at people who would like to fight that problem.  And I do like that in such a small amount of time every day, I can feel like I’m helping to prevent whatever wrinkles and lines I have from getting any deeper.  (Like every magazine will tell you, prevention is the key!)

The ANSR: BEAM Skin Rejuvenation Kit costs $195 (it comes with their PREP cleanser and anti-aging SERUM as well).  Visit www.ansr.com for more information or to purchase one for yourself.
