I have to admit- the best thing about my job is always being “in the know” about new and cool things.  This is an especially wonderful perk when traveling because I can skip the whole Citysearch/TripAdvisor process- which, anyone who has been tasked with finding a restaurant for dinner knows- is an uncertain and tedious process. So last week when I went up to Boston, I already knew before even boarding the bus where the most lavish brunch in the city would be- and that was at the Langham Hotel.

On Sunday, I met up with 2 of my local friends at Café Fleuri, located right above the Bar at Bond.  We were greeted by a live jazz band and a vast, vast spread of gourmet goodies.  If “egg white omelet, no butter” or “lox on a bagel with tomato slices” is not your idea of a good time on Sunday mornings,  you’re in for a really special treat at the Langham. Stations throughout the Café features seafood, a raw bar (!!! I love oysters for brunch), salads, traditional breakfast items (can’t lie..didn’t really touch that table), a kid’s corner, dim sum, desserts, and made-to-order burritos, omelets, pancakes and waffles (must see menu below).

I often find that breakfast and brunch food can often be boring or bland- especially at hotel buffets but you won’t find homefries and sausages  sitting in a silver chafters at the Langham!  Instead, prepared to be wowed by selections such as “Chicken and Mushroom Fricassee”  and “Maple Mustard Glazed Atlantic Salmon. Chef Mark Sapienza says “This year we are using seasonal and local ingredients in our traditional menu items with New England ingredients like Farfalle Pasta with Butternut Squash and Vermont Gorgonzola.”

Those of you with a sweet tooth will certainly be satisfied with your Sunday brunch options (try chocolate raspberry crepes finished with a splash of Grand Marnier) but make sure to stop by on a Saturday for the Langham’s innovative chocolate brunch.  Led by the restaurant’s pastry chef, Jed Hackney, the Saturday Chocolate Bar Brunch takes you on a tour around Boston, featuring sweet delights from every neighborhood. The Chinatown station serves Dessert Sushi in mango, strawberry, chocolate, and green tea flavors as well as Five Spice Chocolate Soup, and Mango and White Chocolate Pudding. And the Fenway Park table? Homemade Crackerjacks with dark caramel, peanuts, and sea salt, Chocolate Covered Peanuts, and Ice Cream Sandwiches.

As it turns out, even  some of my Boston buddies didn’t know about weekend brunch at the Langham (it is at a hotel after all) but after the 2 hour experience, they all decided they would need to bring their friends back.   This holiday season, The Langham’s brunch is avaliable on more than just the weekends. They will be hosting a Thanksgiving Day Brunch on November 26; Pre- Christmas Brunch on November 29, December 6, December 13, and December 20; Christmas Day Brunch on December, 25; and New Year’s Day Rejuvenation Brunch on January 1.  Take it from me- whether you’re coming for the holidays or for just really good food, you have to make a weekend morning stop at the Langham!

Sunday Brunch reservations are available at 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. The cost for Sunday Brunch is $48 for adults  (that’s the price of 10 oysters anywhere else!)  and $25 for children ages 5 to 12.  Holiday brunch prices will vary.
