Givenchy Holiday 2009

Givenchy’s Holiday 2009 collection is built around the delicacy and refinement of pearls.  It’s all about softer colors, with an iridescent eye and lip that make you look like you’re glowing.  (Perfect for parties!)  I’m really loving the look – it’s very ethereal and shimmery, with a heavy emphasis on pale pinks and silver shades.

I’ve been constantly reaching for the two new limited edition Gloss Interdit Ultra-Shiny Color Plumping Effect shades since I got them.  I adore these glosses because they go on so smoothly and have the prettiest scent, and the new shades are gorgeous.  Elegant Pearl is a sheer silver shimmer and Tender Pearl is a pearly pink shimmer.  They are both somewhat sheer and look great alone or layered over lipstick.  The shimmer in them is so, so pretty.  It’s definitely noticeable, but in a sophisticated way, not in a glitter bomb sort of way.  For glosses, I find these last quite a long time and the packaging is so elegant.  I totally want to take these out on my purse in public for touch-ups because they’re too pretty to hide away!

The Le Prisme Perles – 4 Pearly Eyeshadows is an eyeshadow quartet that’s formulated with a high concentration of mother-of-pearl, which gives the shades a gorgeous shine.  You get a pale pink shimmer, a white pearl shimmer, a pale yellow shimmer, and a silvery gray shimmer in a box that comes wrapped in a silky pouch.  The lighter shades are great as a highlighter, while the silvery gray works well as a contour shade.  You can also use the lighter shades on your cheekbones or anywhere else you want to draw attention to with some shimmer.

After I apply the shadows, I’ve also been playing around with the Parad’Eyes Fluid Eye Liner in the two new shades, Tender Pearl and Elegant Pearl.  Like the glosses, Tender Pearl is a metallic pink and Elegant Pearl is a metallic silver.  I can’t quite manage to pull off the pink, but I adore the Elegant Pearl.  It’s a gleaming silver that almost looks wet even once it dries on my lids – it looks great with the shadows and on its own (when I’m too lazy to do both steps) and it lasts for hours.  It’s such a pretty look to pair with the shimmery glosses.  Nothing is overly dramatic or harsh looking – it’s all very feminine and perfect for the holiday season.
