The Power of Oscillation

Lancome has been on the cutting edge of the vibrating makeup craze since it first made waves earlier this year.  They recently introduced two new Oscillation products and I was lucky enough to get my hands on them to try them out. (more…)

I can think of a million stylish gifts for the women I know but when it comes to men, every year I’m at a loss. Enter yet another reason for me to believe that an oracle steers the ship at J.Crew: The Designer Gallery.

My two favorite picks for the men in your life, from brothers and dads to boyfriends: the timeless Selima Optique® for J.Crew aviator sunglasses (hot, hot, hot!), $198, and the vintage Timex® military watch, $150, customizable with striped or solid watch straps, sold separately at two for $30. (Flying lessons not included … unless you’re feeling generous.)

Smitten? Get a matching pair for yourself (they’re so chic on women)!

W3LL People, It’s a Miracle

w3ll-people

As a makeup artist who is always trying to find more eco-friendly choices to work with, I’m hippy-happy about Austin-based, toxin-free eco-beauty brand W3LL PEOPLE Supernatural Cosmetics. It’s affordable, high-quality, revolutionary and recyclable … and oh yeah, super FUN to use!

The brainchild of cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Reneé Snyder, former NARS Cosmetics leader Shirley Pinkson and tree-hugging brand developer James Walker, this modest collection of makeup and skincare products lacks parabens, phthalates, artificial dyes, sulfates — all that nasty stuff. And with pomegranate extract, reishi mushroom and organic green tea, it’s packed with protective antioxidants (and smells a lot like nature)! Products come in stick and powder form, perfect for experimenting with color and finger-blending (Ah, to be a kid again … ). My fave so far: Narcissist Supernatural Foundation, $38, a mineral-derived cream foundation and concealer stick, and Universalist Supernatural Multi-stick for Eyes, Cheeks and Lips, $34, (inspired by NARS The Multiple, perhaps?).

Check them out in person at Marie Mason Apothecary, Ron Robinson’s Apothia Beauty, Planet Blue stores, Vert Los Angeles or at W3LL.com!

Target To Go

Yes my friends, you are looking at a picture of pieces from the highly anticipated Rodarte for Target line for sale weeks before the official release.  And how do you get your hands on such coveted pieces before the masses?  Well, dear reader, that entirely depends on if you are lucky enough to be in New York, Washington DC, or San Francisco this weekend. Target is hosting Target To-Go, a 3 day only pop-up shopping experience starting today, where residents can shop for holiday gifts in an innovative and hassle free manner.

How does it work?  Well you simply walk up to the pop-up sidewalk shop, pick out what you want, fill out an order sheet, and then take it to checkout where each item will be presented to you, all wrapped and ready to go. In New York, if you buy over $100 of products, they will even deliver them right to your doorstep for free! Hours are 10am-8pm, NYC at the High-Line (13th and Washington), DC in Georgetown (M St. NW and Wisconsin Ave) and San Francisco at Mint Plaza.

We sent our friend Samantha to check out a media preview yesterday (and get us some Rodarte).  She reported back that the experience was super easy and fun- even on a freezing cold day in New York!  So what can you hope to score this weekend?  Check out the full list at Target.com/ToGo and below for some highlights and pictures. Give the Gift of Grane Jeans

Being a college student makes wearing denim everyday a definite possibility ( or in my case reality). With an array of available styles and trends out there, a solid jean collection can be tailored to fit every occasion. Naturally my affection for a good pair of blue jeans has led me all over the board when it comes to shopping. Of course, as a student, my favorite find is a pair of good looking yet affordable jeans. This holiday season I am absolutely hooked on Grane Jeans. This brand offers a range of styles and cuts for every denim wearer at shockingly, and I mean shockingly, affordable prices. Lately I have been pairing Grane denim leggings with longer cardigans and Frye boots for a cute and casual winter look, perfect for class, or lunch with the gals. The best part about Grane jeans is that you can afford to stock up without affording yourself a trip down bank overdraft charge lane!

With Christmas right around the corner and a ton of girls back home to shop for, I am thinking Grane jeans would be a hit with my friends while leaving my wallet some room to shop for Mom and Dad, too. Available at Macy’s and Belk’s, Grane Jeans make an easy gift for any denim lover out there looking to increase her collection!

Holiday Sparkles

During my teenage years, one of the most precious gifts I ever remembered receiving was a pair of beautiful, solitaire diamond studs from my mother.  They weren’t particularly high carat count or done up in any fancy designs, but they were at once the most versatile, practical and most luxurious piece of jewelry I wore on a daily basis. That’s the power of diamonds- even the simplest pieces have the most significant meaning.

Then one day, I lost a stud… and then the other (somewhere along the way, I also lost a diamond necklace) and punished myself by forever switching to costume jewelry.  I went for years without wearing earrings–because as much as I loved my Alexis Bittar hoops, I never seemed to have enough time in the mornings to put them in.  Buying a new pair of diamond studs was always on my to-do list, but for a single gal, diamonds can be hard to come by. It wasn’t until this week, when I received an amazing gift from the folks at Sam’s Club, that my diamond wishes were finally answered. (more…)
