Sampler Platter
One of my favorite things about the holiday season at Sephora is the sampler sets that they come out with every year. They always contain a generous selection of products in a wide variety of shades that let me try out brands and shades that I might not ordinarily think to buy or test out. (They also make great gifts for any of your friends or relatives who don’t shop at Sephora a lot. I know all my younger cousins would be thrilled to unwrap any of them). This year, the offerings include sets of fragrance samples, body products, and (of course!) a few with different makeup samples, which are always the ones that I gravitate towards. Here are two of my favorites:
The Lip Service Deluxe Sampler contains eight different shades of lip products, which range in color from a light baby pink to a dark red. Some of the them are smaller than the full-sized ones you would normally buy, but there’s always enough of the product to let you see how it looks (and lasts) on your lips. (And the smaller sizes are actually really convenient for traveling or tucking in a clutch for a night out, so I kind of like that aspect of it). My standouts from this set are DuWop’s Private Red lipstick, which I now have on my list to buy the full-sized version of, and the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Roman Holiday, which is the perfect daytime pink for me. I also like that the set includes a sheer gloss from Smashbox. Sheer gloss is always something that I forget to buy, but it looks great layered over all of these shades and it almost feels like a bonus after all the other great colors in the set.
My other favorite is the Glitz & Glam Shimmer and Shine Deluxe Sampler. It’s packed with products essential for creating a glowing look this holiday season and I can honestly say there isn’t a loser in the bunch. You get everything from shimmer powder to leg bronzer to gold shadow to a pink and gold glimmer lip gloss. I’m really impressed with the Guerlain Meteorites Powder Pearls for the Face in Beige Chic – they’re so delicate and pretty and I probably never would’ve tried them if it wasn’t for this set. I also really like the mini Glam Gams from Tarte because it’s small enough to pack in my suitcase for my trip back east for the holidays and it gives my (very, very pale legs) a natural tan glow that they’re desperately in need of. (And it’s much less messy than self-tanner!)

I just bought the lip set online two days ago! I’ve been wanting to try DuWops Private Red and that’s what sold me on this set. I haven’t found a red that looks good on me yet but I’ve got my fingers crossed. I looked at the Glitz set but it was sold out. :( Hopefully they’ll restock!
Where have these been all my life? I’ve never seen these, but they are AMAZING!
