Beauty, SkincareTDO Sponsored Post: Proactiv 12 Days of Christmas

On the sixth day of Christmas, Proactiv gave to me … $200 to one of my favorite charities, the National Marrow Donor Program. As part of a quite generous holiday giving effort, The Daily Obsession was lucky enough to secure a charity sponsorship in Proactiv’s 12 Days of Christmas, a collection of YouTube vlogs in favor of our favorite charities. Check out my vlog, in which I explain why I chose the National Marrow Donor Program and review one of my favorite Proactiv products, Proactiv Green Tea Moisturizer ($18). Make sure you tune in for tomorrow’s post from! (Just log on to YouTube and search for Proactiv’s 12 Days of Christmas!)

Bath & Body, Beauty, SkincareFarmhouse Fresh and Delicious

I absolutely adore Farmhouse Fresh because all of their products smell ridiculously good.  Like, so good that if they’re in my closet, even if I’m going in there for a totally unrelated reason, I often find myself opening their products just to take a sniff.  The deliciousness continues with their two new products – Hello! Yellow and One Fine Day.

One Fine Day is a face polish that’s perfect for when you’re in need of some exfoliation (although it’s definitely gentle enough to use every day if you wanted).  It’s a shea sugar blend and is 98.5% natural, so it’s perfect if your skin is dry or sensitive.  It smells absolutely amazing – the polish contains grapefruit and citrus oils, so the scent is light and refreshing and even a little energizing.  The polish itself is a really nice consistency – it’s strong enough to give a really good exfoliation to your face, but it’s not harsh or stingy at all.  It leaves my skin really soft and glowing.  I’ve been using it every other night for the past two weeks or so and I’ve barely made a dent in the container – you need to use so little that one jar will last you a long time.  Always nice!

Hello! Yellow is another can’t miss product.  It’s a shea butter body cream made with natural vanilla and citrus oils.  I know I sound like a broken record about these products, but this one smells amazing as well.  It’s a comforting mix of sweet and citrusy, sort of like a sugary creamsicle, and the cream is dense and rich and not at all greasy.  It comes in a display-worthy glass jar (perfect to give as a gift) and the shea and cocoa butters make it super moisturizing – great for the bitter winter months.  I’ll be using this one until I’m scraping the very last bits out of the bottom of the container!

FashionAviator Nation

Lately I’ve been missing Southern California like crazy (could it be because of the cold weather and our two fabulous LA editors, Charli and Stacey?) and have been gravitating towards items that remind me of it. Aviator Nation‘s clothing have a laidback beachy vibe that are right on the mark. (They remind me of the Venice area in LA!) Beyond vintage-inspired tees, tanks, bottoms, etc. for both men and women, they also offer hoodies and sweatshirts that are ideal for those of us who are fighting chilly weather.

Aiming for an authentic vintage look and feel, the designer Paige Mycoskie studied vintage fabrics – everything from the fibers to how they were made. This makes them super soft and comfortably worn, yet still retains a fresh modern look. Some of our favorites are the Unisex Sleeve Stripe Hoodie, which features a simple rainbow of stripes on the sleeves; we’d pair this over jeans now but when the weather slightly warms up, it would be thrown over a swimsuit so we could enjoy the beach as soon as possible. We also love the wave-inspired sweatshirt and more subtle striped hood hoodie. Check them all out at

Beauty, NailsA Plethora of Polish Choices

Like I assume most women do, I go through phases with makeup where I’m super into eyeshadow or lipstick, and then that passes and I get a new product obsession for awhile.  Right now, it’s nail polish.  I’m not sure how long it’s going to last, but for the moment, I’m thoroughly enjoying trying new shades and getting WAY too many manicures and pedicures.  (In my defense, I like the place near me that does them and it’s only $20 for both, so it’s kind of easy to justify).  The two brands that I find myself reaching for the most lately are familiar ones, but I just love the new shades and how long lasting they all are, so I can’t seem to stop using them. Fashion, IntimatesPretty in Elle

I’ve been hearing for years how fabulous Elle Macpherson Intimates are – from the luxurious fabrics to the fabulously sexy fits. I recently got to try out a few styles, courtesy of, and I’ve definitely been missing out on this quality lingerie brand all of these years.

The intimates from Elle Macpherson’s line uses gorgeous fabrics that are luxurious to the touch, but still supportive in style (forewarning: the sizing runs small). The Sheer Ribbons style is one of my favorites because of the sheer black stripes edged with lace, which makes it both fun and sexy – so perfect for date night with someone special!

For a more classic vintage-inspired romantic style, try the Dentelle style. Each color it’s offered in has a contrast trim; the white/nude is perfect for brides out there while the sweet pink dogwood hue could make your everyday lingerie a bit more exciting. Even better, most of these styles come with matching bottoms in a comfortable bikini styles that are still very flattering and girly.

Beauty, MakeupExtravagant Gold

I’m pretty much in love with all of Estee Lauder‘s holiday collection (seriously, if you haven’t seen it yet, go as soon as possible, before it’s all sold out) but if forced to pick a favorite piece, I’d choose the Five Color Eyeshadow Palette in Extravagant Gold.  All of the Five Color palettes are fantastic, but this one is especially great because the gorgeous mix of browns and gold shades can be used in so many different ways.  You can use the lighter shades with a soft touch during the day for work, or you can use the darker shades to create a bold smokey eye for a night out.  The shades are an interesting mix of matte, satin, shimmer and metallic finishes, so it’s a great variety of textures to play around with (always fun!).  The shadows themselves are all richly pigmented, blend easily, and have great staying power (which you can extend even more if you use a shadow primer underneath).

I’m slightly obsessed with this palette right now, to the point where I have to constantly stop myself from running out to the mall and picking up the Blue Dahlia one as well.  (It’s also gorgeous, but I REALLY don’t need any more blue shadows).  They’re both limited-editions though, so if either one of them is catching your eye, make sure you don’t want too long to pick it up or you’ll probably have to walk away empty-handed.  And who wants that?
