Be A Heartbreaker
I love the beginning of the year when all the new spring makeup collections start coming out. I’m always interested in new makeup shades, but there’s something about the spring ones signaling the coming end of winter and the beginning of better weather that makes them especially fun to me. After months of wearing darker shades, I’m ready to get lighter again! One of the first ones that I’ve stumbled across is the new Heartbreaker collection from Smashbox.
Heartbreaker is a fairly large collection, but my favorite pieces are the two eyeshadow palettes. Kiss N’ Tell has six shades of pinks and violets, with Charcoal and Icy White shades thrown in for contrast. You could create some really great nighttime looks with this one. Hot Date is slightly more of a daytime palette for me. It has three neutral shades of creams and browns, but it also has a few funkier shades, like Shimmering Azure and Mint, that are perfect for brightening up your look without being too over the top.
Bold lips are in for spring and the two Heartbreaker Lip Shines are perfect for testing out this trend without looking like a clown. They come in Berry Hot and Melon-Drama, both bright shades, but they’re sheer enough that you won’t feel self-conscious wearing them. My favorite is Berry Hot – it’s super shiny and moisturizing and it’s a gorgeous pinky-plum shade that goes great with the Kiss N’ Tell shadow palette. (It also looks really pretty with a silver smoky eye, which is what I’ve been wearing it with). There’s also a Heartbreaker Roller Gloss, which I’m dying to try. It has a fantastic five star rating on Sephora.com and all the reviewers are raving about how non-sticky and shiny it is. (I was obsessed with my Maybelline roller gloss in junior high and this seems like the more sophisticated version my makeup collection never knew it was missing).

Those palettes are great! I’ve been trying to avoid buying any new eyeshadows because my collection has gotten out of control, but this is not helping my resolve…
