Get Your Fifteen Minutes

I’m such a fan of all the Lipstick Queen products. (I haven’t taken my Chinatown Glossy Pencils out of my bag since I got them!) Poppy King’s latest entry into the world of all things lip-related is the Fifteen Minutes of FAME Pop Art Glosses. The name was inspired by the Pop Art movement and Andy Warhol, who was known for his prediction in 1968 that “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for fifteen minutes.” (So true. There are more than a few “celebrities” I wish this didn’t apply to).
The Pop Art Glosses come in 15 (of course!) different shades ranging from 1 Minute, a pale ballet pink, all the way up to 15 Minutes, a sexy wine. The colors in between include reds and purples – pretty much every shade you could want in a gloss can be found as the numbers go up. My personal favorites at the moment are 7 Minutes, a bright pink, and 9 Minutes, described as a “luscious scarlet” on the Lipstick Queen site. The glosses are all moisturizing and shiny without being sticky, plus they’re all free of shimmer, so they’re perfect for both day and night. I think these will be taking a place of honor in my bag right next to the Chinatown Glossy Pencils!
The Ultimate Brow Styler
As any gal who suffers from sparse eyebrows can attest to (such as yours truly), having the right brow pencil is absolutely essential. I recently got my hands on the Dior Diorshow Brow Styler, described as an “ultra-fine precision brow pencil,” as part of an Allure promotion. It’s my newest obsession and the brow pencil to end all other brow pencils.
The Diorshow Brow Styler only comes in one universal shade, a light brown that should suit most hair colors. People often make the mistake of using pencils that are too dark for them, resulting in an unnatural look. I have black hair, and this was perfect for creating a natural-looking arch. Also, the thin pencil provides a very precise application. So all I have to do to “fill in” my brows is brush them slightly with the conveniently attached brush on the other end, and then simply apply. At $28, it’s certainly pricey, but totally worth it for me!
Black Orchid Jeans
It’s that time again to update my denim wardrobe and my new favorite brand is Black Orchid, creator of my new favorite skinny basic jean. Yes, I still love my J Brand and my 7 Jeans, but wow, slipping into a pair of Black Orchid jeans is like throwing on my favorite pair of leggings or sweatpants; it’s just that comfortable.
Fortunately for everyone else around me, Black Orchid jeans also look better than my beloved schlumpy sweatpants that I wear to the gym. The stretchy fit gently embraces my curves, doesn’t cause muffin top, and so it’s no surprise with this forgiving fit that recent mother, Jessica Alba has been wearing these jeans all over town. The cut of the jean also sharply tapers at the knee, so you get a nice slimming effect in the thigh.
Most excitingly, I don’t have to alter or tailor my Black Orchid jeans! As a petite girl, I can’t tell you how happy it makes me not to spent the requisite $20 at my local tailor to go through the whole re-attaching the original hem process and to actually be able to walk out of the house in an unaltered jeans.
You can find Black Orchid jeans at Saks where they retail for about $114+ dollars. Black Orchid also offers their jeans in a number of finishes in addition to their basics like the paint splattered Black Jewel.
Torino Boots by Sorel

In my mind, “fashionable snow boots” are a huge oxymoron. How can anyone look even remotely fashionable while trudging through snow and sub-zero temps? Well, you can flip through Vogue and see the latest ad campaign by Sorel, which pairs city scenes, night-out clothing, and snow boots to create the hottest new trend in winter boots. As an ex-Ugg loyalist, I’ve found the best solution to my snow-boot woes: Torino Boots by Sorel.
After the first blizzard of the season here in Boston, I can say for certain that my Sorel’s were one of the best purchases I’ve made this season. At $95, not only are the boots reasonably priced and super cute, but kept my feet toasty and cozy while trudging through snowbanks and slippery sidewalks (they’re completely waterproof with full fleece lining). While they are shorter variety of snowboots, one can easily layer funky knit legwarmers over their pants or leggings for additional warmth.
Forget about pain; comfort is beauty! If you’re in need of a pair of boots to keep you dry and warm through the Winter months, check out Sorel! Available at Zappos.com and Endless.com.
Bundle Up with White + Warren
Unless you’re on a tropical vaycay, we’re going to guess that you’re bundled up right now! There’s pretty much nothing better than some White + Warren cashmere…and if you didn’t get what you wanted for the holidays, we say treat yourself to this Cashmere Pocket Cardigan! It’ll be well worth the $200, since we can guarantee you’ll want to just live in all winter-long.
This 100% cashmere cardigan has an open front and a draped neckline that leads down to an asymmetrical hem. Front patch pockets adds to the coziness. You can throw this on over anything – from a plain ol’ t-shirt to a favorite silk dress to pajamas.
We love it so much that we wish we had one. Hmm, it is only a click (and several shipping days) away….
