Soften Up Those Studs
Since it’s still so chilly, I should probably still be stocking up on sweaters and cozy knits. But what I really want is warm weather clothing! This Ecote Chiffon Studded Tank from Urban Outfitters is definitely on my list.
Cut slightly loose, this tank made from airy silk chiffon skims the body to create a relaxed yet sexy silhouette. There’s gorgeous stud detailing on the front, which gives the top some interest and toughens up an otherwise sweet, girly tank. I want to wear this with a pair of trousers and sandals (think Jennifer Aniston on a casual day), but think it could just be worn under skinny jeans, boots and a boyfriend blazer for now!

The Makeup Show Kicks Off in LA
I’m excited for Sunday, and here’s why!: The second annual Makeup Show kicks off in downtown L.A., rounding up some of the best makeup brands and artists in one place. The show runs from Sunday through Monday at the California Market Center – definitely a must for network-hungry budding makeup artists and the makeup-obsessed. Expect to find big names in the makeup world like Ve Neill, Joanna Schlip, Eve Pearl, Jon Hennessey, Myles O’Reilly, Ronnie Specter, Orlando Santiago — collectively responsible for the faces of Audrey Hepburn, Eva Longoria, Alicia Keys and Sarah Jessica Parker, the list goes on! — there to share their skills. (Tips, tips, tips!)
I’m especially excited to check out the latest product demos, pro makeup tips, beauty how-tos, hands-on workshops and more from brands like Make Up For Ever, MAC, Temptu, Stila, Smashbox Cosmetics, Korres, Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics and Face Atelier. Will keep you posted on what little delights I find.
If you’re in town, check out the lineup and get tickets at www.themakeupshow.com. (Or hit up The Makeup Show in NYC in May.) See you there!
Casa di Francesca
Having recently moved, I always find that home fragrance is an easy way to make an apartment feel a little bit more like mine, even though there are boxes that need to be unpacked. When I opened the diffuser by Casa di Francesca, I immediately felt a sense of luxury and comfort.
From their collection of scents, I tried Pure Pear. The scent captures the scent of lush white pear blossoms and the ripening fruit; in my apartment, it lends a sweet but also crisp and clean scent. The overall feeling is very sweet and rustic, and it makes me feel instantly relaxed…like taking a deep breath and going “ahhh.” What could make you feel more at home than that?
Obsession of the Moment: Morelle Morchella Bag
Mighty Aphrodite
Who else is suffering from pasty, pale winter skin? I don’t think I’ve seen the sun for days in Chicago, and my awesome tan from the summer is now non-existent. Julie Hewett has come to the rescue with her new Ora Mineral Bronzer in Aphrodite.
What’s different about this particular bronzer is that it’s packed with a subtle gold shimmer. It doesn’t have any pink tones, so all you get is a warm, sun-kissed look. Aphrodite’s light-reflecting minerals create a soft look combined with the gold shimmer, yet still defines your cheeks and face nicely. In short? It’s a lifesaver this winter.

Glow With Chanel

Whenever I get to check out a new Chanel collection, I get a little giddy because they’re always so gorgeous and luxurious. I always remember being a little girl and passing the Chanel counter at the mall and looking forward to the day I could wear it myself. Their new spring collection is exactly the sort of thing I was dreaming about back then. Chanel calls Les Impressions De Chanel “a collection of clean, classic neutrals that are infinitely wearable and effortlessly chic. Quintessential shades, ranging from pink and beige to warm brown and khaki, enhance the complexion and illuminate the face, highlighting a woman’s natural beauty.” I’ve gotten to try a few of the products and so far, I’ve loved them all. Bamford Body

If there’s one thing I love as much as products, it’s England. London is my favorite city in the world and I would totally move there if I could find the perfect job that paid enough for me not to have to live in like, a studio apartment the size of my bathroom. (Have you guys ever been there? London is expensive!) I also have fond memories of hours spent browsing in Boots (sort of the British equivalent of CVS) and finding some amazing products that I haven’t been able to get in the US, so I have very fond memories of my time living there. Which is why when I recently learned about Bamford Bath & Body – a product line made entirely in England, I couldn’t wait to try it. (more…)
3D Gloss
I’ve been on a major gloss kick lately (although really, when am I not?). LORAC’s Multiplex 3D Lip Glosses are new for spring and they’ve already found their way into my bag so I can carry them around on a daily basis.
The glosses come in six different shades ranging from bright pink to dark nude and they go on super, super shiny (like, reflecting the light off your lips when you look in the mirror shiny). The glosses are made with a formula that is supposed to visually retexture the lips, which smoothes away imperfections and lets the true color of the gloss come through. It’s also paraben-free and full of antioxidants, so unlike some lipsticks, wearing it keeps your lips smooth and moisturized. The texture is a combo between a liquid lipstick and a lip lacquer; it seems thicker than regular glosses to me so it lasts longer on my lips. I also love the scent of it – my friend and I have been sniffing it for days, trying to figure out exactly what it is (we lead very boring lives) and I think we’ve narrowed it down to pomegranate. It’s really fresh and fruity and perfect for the warmer weather. Bring on the pool parties!
