Lust List: February 2010

ONE. Rolex Daytona Watch — I’ve been all about men’s timepieces on women recently and my ultimate favorite is the Rolex Daytona in Everose Gold. I bet this watch is on a lot of men’s lust lists as well, since the Daytona is one of the most classic, covetable Rolex models; it is the masculine equivalent of an Hermes Birkin for a woman (with a similar pricetag to match.) Everose gold is Rolex’s own special rose gold alloy, and its subtle rosy sheen gives the timepiece that an added bit of femininity. Something about seeing a man’s watch on a woman seems sexily unorthodox to me, maybe it’s the contrast of the sleek, masculine timepiece, against a woman’s delicately boned wrist and dainty hands. In fashion, we always seem to borrow inspiration from the boys (with the boyfriend blazer and grandpa cardigan as a few examples,) but if I know some men would be the ones doing the borrowing if I had this watch in my possession. - Kathleen
TWO. Balenciaga Arena First Classic in Cyclade – To be perfectly frank, I pretty much lust after a Balenciaga every month. I’m in love with this one in particular for its not-oversized size, classic Balenciaga hardware, and luxurious lambskin leather. But I think I love the Cyclade shade most of all, as the name suggests, it reminds me of my trip to Santorini a couple of years ago. That beautiful blue color brings back so many amazing memories, so I’m lusting to have this bag until I can get back to Greece! - Nina
THREE. Caroline Hedaya Lace Over Dress — This gorgeous silk charmeuse dress would be a fabulous addition to my wardrobe. I love the simple and girly style that’s oh-so-flattering. I could layer a cardigan over it right now and wear with my favorite Miu Miu round toe heels; later, it could be easily paired with sandals in warmer weather. It was originally over $400, but now it’s 70% off at Shopbop. This might be a Lust List item that I can indulge in…should I order it?! - Connie
FOUR. BE & D Woodstock Large Shoulder Bag — I cannot stop lusting after new bags lately and once I saw this one, I knew it was another bag I was going to admire from afar. It’s the perfect neutral shade of grey to transition into the warmer weather (well, warmer in L.A. anyway…) and it’s big enough to carry around all of the stuff I can’t seem to do without, but not so big that it would be unwieldy or knocking people over when I turn in a crowded area. I love the wrinkled, distressed leather because it’s different than any other bag I currently have, and the contrast whipstitching is a funky touch. I seriously can’t stop looking at the picture of it online. If anyone has a spare $995 lying around and wants to buy it for me, just let me know! - Stacey
FIVE. Le Metier de Beaute Limited Edition Autumn Embers Lip Kaleidoscope — While everything from Le Metier de Beaute should be on every beauty queen’s lust list (or is certainly on mine!), their Lip Kaleidescopes take the cake for being the top must-have item every season. The Kaleidoscopes come as a palette of four, color saturated lipglosses that can be worn as individual colors or mixed and matched to fit your liking. All four colors an also be layered on top of one another to create a stunning, one of a kind, multidimensional pout. I particularly love the Limited Edition Autumn Embers kaleidoscope which feature a beautiful combination of pinks, mauves and nudes- perfect for an office day look or to match with a smokey eye. $95 at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. - Carolyn
