Cheap & Chic, Dining & Nightlife, Hotels, New YorkCheap & Chic: April 2010

ONE. Natural Power Breakfast at the Barclay Bar & Grill — Is there anything more chic than a New York Power Breakfast?  I think not  and the InterContinental Barclay in midtown Manhattan agrees- now making the power breakfast affordable and healthy.  The $33 buffet is offered Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m., and 7:00 a.m – 11:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, and features a new buffet lineup of 100% organic foods such as smoked wild Alaskan King salmon (so rare to find in New York City), foie gras, locally sourced pastries,  a selection of hormone-free meats, eggs and a variety of juices including my new favorite, kiwi wheatgrass.   Executive chef Carmine Marletta,04 pounds in the past year by eating clean and exercising- a healthy message he hopes will inspire all those that dine in his restaurant.   So gather your girlfriends (or your business colleagues) and head to the Barclay Bar & Grill to try the new, healthy and delectable natural power breakfast.  Who knows which media mogul or mover & shaker you may run into at the juice bar?  - Carolyn

TWO. J.Crew Philo Eyelet Blouse –- I can’t help but think ahead to spring and summer clothing, even though it’s still a little brisk here in Chicago. This cute blouse from J.Crew is on sale for $49.99, which makes it just so cheap and chic. It comes in pale pink and white, and I just adore the embroidery and little scalloped sleeves. Pretty, fluttery, perfect for warmer weather, and just under budget as well? I’ll take it! - Nina

THREE. Asha Patel Faceted Labradoriate Bracelet — This bracelet is so fun and adorable, I must order it immediately. The leather bracelet is topped with a faceted Labradorite stone in a pretty, misty hue that reminds me of the darkening weather before a thunderstorm. (Labradorite is known to promote self control and inner peace and is meant to stand for clarity of insight and intuition. Who couldn’t use more of that?) The bracelet is an affordable $30, but if the stone isn’t your particular taste, there are several other versions also available online at the same price. Definitely a Cheap and Chic pick worth checking out! - Stacey

FOUR. Williams-Sonoma Seasonal Contrast Dishcloths and Towels — Since I recently moved, I’m freshening up with a few new pieces of furniture and other home accessories. One of my favorite new additions are these fabulous dishcloths and towels from Williams-Sonoma, which always has such beautiful and durable products. These cheery dish towels are made for the spring season, and just add that perfect bright touch to any kitchen. They are extremely luxurious to the touch, and the high quality means they will last for a very long time. (You’ll be able to tell once you have some in your hands!) Best part…they are absolutely affordable at only $16-$18. Love it! - Connie

FIVE. Free People Holes Circle Hoops — Dunno why but I’ve been really into hunting for a great pair of hoop earrings lately — something unique and sexy yet classic enough to go with neutral, work-appropriate outfits. Free People Holes Circle Hoops clock in at just under $50 and get the job done right! I could see them with almost any outfit, from a DVF number to a slub cardigan, tank dress and engineer boots. Oh, I feel a shopping spree coming on … - Charli
