Rushing Ruffles
Meet the newest addition to my wardrobe: the Rushing Ruffles Dress by Bailey 44, purchased from Anthropologie over the past weekend. This is the second Bailey 44 dress I’ve bought and let me tell you, these are the most comfortable and versatile articles of clothing I own. This dress will make you feel like you’re wearing your pajamas, while looking like a rockstar at the same time (if that’s even possible!). While playing off the nautical trend of the spring, it’s also a great staple piece in one’s wardrobe. Also, the fit of this particular dress is incredibly flattering, with roushing and detailing in all the perfect places.
Wear it on its own, or pair it with this Spilling Ruffles Cartigan in gray. With this weekend’s temperature approaching 80 degrees in Boston, this will be the perfect outfit to transition from Easter dinner to a night on the town for Opening Day!
A Roman Holiday
Earlier this week, the Roman Sandals by Jeffrey Campbell arrived at my doorstep (via an order I placed at Martin + Osa a couple weekends ago). I debated a bit over whether or not to order them (because really, do I need another pair of sandals?), but am so glad that I did. When I opened the box, I was instantly smitten because I knew how fantastic they’d look on.
Skinny straps are decorated with silver and bronze studs. The narrowness of the straps lends a delicate feel to the entire shoe, and when worn, it looks really gorgeous. I want to wear these with my favorite summer dresses already, but sadly have to wait out the rainy weather we’ve been having. But when the sun peeks out and the weather warms up, I’ll be ready!
They’re available in a few colors at Martin + Osa, Shopbop and Ssense.com.
Candy Apples

As much as I love fruity fragrances, for some reason, DKNY’s apple scented ones were never my favorites. So when they released three new limited-edition fragrances, all a variation on the apple theme, I totally expected to spritz them on at Sephora, shake my head, and keep on walking. This totally shows that once again, I really have no anticipation skills whatsoever because I ended up falling for two of them – the Juicy Berry Candy Apple and the Ripe Raspberry Candy Apple. John Frieda Root Awakening
Editor’s Note: A few weeks ago we sent our gal pal Malorie Kaye to cover the new John Frieda Root Awakening launch. She’s been trying out the products since! Read below to find out what her fav product is from the line!
Known for spearheading the Frizz-free hair campaign over 20 years ago with the creation of Frizz-ease, John Frieda has become an icon in the beauty industry. As a one-stop shop for beautiful hair, the company has ensured that their first priority be to always maintain their name as innovator, consistently developing products that change women’s lives with simplicity and ease. It is with this notion that they have introduced their newest line of products, John Frieda Root Awakening Hair Care. (more…)
A Taste of Rose and Sugar
You know how in Confessions of a Shopaholic, heroine Becky Bloomwood states that “a store awakens a lust for things you never even knew you needed?” Every girl has a certain store that makes them feel this. For my mom, it’s Lord and Taylor. For my friend, Jen, it’s Anthropologie. For me, Fresh is that store. I usually wind up in that store, completely by accident, never really sure of what I am doing there, since, as a beauty blogger, I never really need any beauty products. The multitude of half used body washes, moisturizers, shampoos, and soaps in the bookshelf next to my bathroom attest to that.
Yet, I wander into Fresh and all these rational thoughts disappear from my head. Instead I think, “Ooh, cannabis rose, interesting? What does that smell like?” and “Mm, I could really use a pink jasmine body cream.” Last week, another bout of irrationality came upon me, when I tried out the Sugar Rosé Tinted Lip Treatment . When the sales assistant asked me if I had tried out their lip treatment before, I said, yes I had and that I didn’t really need another lip balm, as I currently had 6 (no exaggeration) various lip balms in my bag.. Macy’s Flower Show 2010

The annual Macy’s Flower Show is underway for 2010, and it’s a fun, free way to celebrate the season! Called “Spring is in the Air,” it’s taking place from now until April 11th at five Macy’s locations: Chicago, Minneapolis, NYC, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. I was lucky enough to get the inside scoop on Chicago’s Flower Show, taking place at the historic store on State St., and I can’t wait to check it out for myself!
The State St. store features over 20 displays with over 100 varieties of exotic trees and flowering plants. There are also beautiful tablescapes by the Martha Stewart and Lenox collections that will definitely inspire how you’ll set your table. You can even take a guided tour hosted by a University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener. Pictured above is an amazing 16-foot birdcage display in the Walnut Room on the 7th floor, featuring white spriea, orchids, tulips, daffodils, birds of paradise, blue hydrangea, and different ivy and grasses. And don’t miss this year’s centerpiece–a hot air balloon, reaching over 2 stories high, with a gondola filled with beautiful greenery and flowers. Be sure to check out Macy’s Flower Show at 111 N. State St. while you can, and click to see even more pictures! (more…)
