Cheap & ChicCheap & Chic: June 2010

ONE. Soap & Paper Factory Jasmine Solid Perfume — Summer in the Hollywood Hills (where I live) can be summed up with one word: jasmine. There are bushes of it everywhere that fill the air with a sweet, calming fragrance. Luckily, I am cuckoo for jasmine. Unluckily, I got lost in Anthropologie again (I HAVE to stop going in there), and stumbled upon a bin of nine varieties of solid perfumes by Soap & Paper Factory, whose luxurious, handmade, paraben-, phthalate- and petrochemical-free body creams, candles and more we raved about when they first slid onto our radar two years ago. I spontaneously rubbed their Jasmine Solid Perfume, $18, on my wrists, then went about my merry way. An hour later, even though I was typing in an office, my mind was lingering by the jasmine bush that lines my hideaway street corner. Mmm…bliss. - Charli

TWO. Alex and Ani Cornelian Expandable Wire Bangle for Haiti — Cheap, chic, eco-friendly, for a great cause? Sign me right up! Designed by jewelry brand Alex and Ani (named after the designer’s daughters), this cute bangle is only $18. The patented expandable bangle will fit your wrist, and the Cornelian bead detail is oh so pretty. It’s made from recycled material and all the profits from sale go to Project USA for Haiti relief. It’s simple yet lovely! - Nina

THREE. LOGO by Lori Goldstein Earth Tone Side Cluster Necklace — Stylist to the stars Lori Goldstein sure knows a thing or two about being chic.  She has outfitted A-Listers from Madonna to Julia Roberts but now you don’t have to fork over top dollar to tap into her vast sartorial knowledge and aesthetic.  Lori’s new line LOGO is all about having fun with clothes and making fashion accessible. A favorite from her QVC line is this necklace which effortlessly glams up any outfit from tees and jeans to a cocktail dress. The cluster shape is unique without being overwhelming and best of all, comes in at just under $50- accessible for any fashionista!   - Carolyn

FOUR. Santa Maria Novella Sapone al Melograno — Beautiful soaps are always a treat! I love this wonderfully moisturizing pomegranate soap that is triple-milled and made from a whole milk formula. The bars are handpressed and handwrapped, so you’re getting an exquisite product with each one. I’ve already snagged a bar for myself this month (only $25), but because they’re so fabulous, I think I’ll picking up a few more for friends! - Connie

FIVE. Express Sexy Stretch Fold-Over Pant — I’ve recently decided to stop being so lazy and make a triumphant return to the gym, but I know myself and since it’s hard enough to leave the couch when “Jerseylicious” is on, I needed some cute new workout gear to motivate me. In my search, I stumbled upon the Sexy Stretch Fold-Over Pants from Express and now I’m excited to get into my gym clothes every day. They’re the perfect workout pants. They’re form-fitting, so you don’t trip over them or run the risk of them falling down while you’re on the treadmill, but they’re stretchy, so they’re totally comfortable. And they somehow manage to look both chic and functional at the same time. (I like to wear mine with a plain tank). They’re technically supposed to be yoga pants, but I use them for cardio and they work great. (They’re also comfortable enough to wear when you’re just lounging around your place, so they’re doubly economical). The pant is available in several colors and also in a cropped version, so you can buy enough pairs to take you through the week without having to do laundry. And they’re only $29.90 ($24.90 for the cropped version) PLUS Express is having a Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off sale right now, so they’re even cheaper. If you’re a regular gym goer, you can’t afford to pass these up. - Stacey
