Lust ListLust List: July 2010

ONE. Temperley London Mini Bessie Dress — I’ve been on a total dress buying spree lately and the Mini Bessie dress would be perfect for a few events that I have on my calendar in the coming months. It’s short enough to be wearable in hot summer weather and the white contrast piping and open back turn what could just be another ordinary black dress into something extraordinary and one of a kind. Just looking at in on my computer screen is making me smile! But sadly, at $1250, unless it goes on sale for, oh, about 95% off, I don’t think it’ll be making me smile in person any time soon… – Stacey

TWO. Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Color — Is there anything more lust inducing than the perfect pout?  Well if there’s anyone to teach you to unleash your inner sexpot, that would be Tom Ford.  According to the designer, “there’s no more dramatic accessory than the perfect lip.” He recently launched his Private Blend Lip Color Wardrobe which consists of twelve classic shades from the most seductive nude to hot fire engine red. The lipsticks are formulated with super moisturizing ingredients and deliver rich pigmentation delivering hours and hours of comfortable wear.  The gorgeous ivory and gold packaging will also be sure to induce lustful stares from your gal pals.! Priced at $45 each, these lipsticks are an investment but well worth it.  – Carolyn

THREE. Pamela Love Talon Cuffs — NYC-based jewelry designer Pamela Love (whose artwork is featured on Sebastian Re-Shaper hairspray’s new limited-edition cans on sale this August), makes fabulous earthy/gothic/tribal/fantasy-like pieces, such as Raven Skull necklaces, Quartz Crystal Python necklaces, Heishi Bead bracelets, and (my favorite!) Talon Cuffs, $1,000 (gold) to $1,250 (silver). While some of her pieces appear potentially aggressive in close-up photos, they are so delicate, feminine and finely made in person. Having collaborated with Zac Posen, Marchesa, Yigal Azrouel and Twenty8Twelve, her stuff is uber-expensive, crazy exclusive and often sold-out (Lady Gaga is reportedly a fan). In fact, I can only dream of owning some pieces, like the collectible Mammoth Talon Cuff, which has six black diamonds in it and was designed with Black Sheep and Prodigal Sons. But, as Ms. Love recently told me, if you put in requests at her retail carriers (Ron Herman at Fred Segal, Bergdorf Goodman, and many boutiques), and send an email request or shop at her online store, you’re much more likely to get what you want … if you can find an extra grand to invest awesome jewelry, that is. – Charli

FOUR. HTC EVO 4G — Though I love my iPhone 3G dearly, it may be time for us to part ways. Its battery life is dwindling and the software is lagging like an old computer. I’d upgrade to the iPhone 4, but not when it’s got more issues than National Geographic. The love affair with Apple might be ending, but a greater one may be just beginning. The HTC EVO 4G phone, available on the Sprint network, is the first ever 4G phone and looks absolutely amazing. The display is so vivid that it can actually stream HD video, it’s got two cameras, it can turn into a freaking mobile hotspot, and it actually has a kickstand for easier media viewing! Why take a step backward with the iPhone 4 when you can enjoy 4G speeds on a superior phone? – Nina

FIVE. Camilla Skovgaard Ballerina Flat — I adore flats. Unlike some of the other TDO editors, I simply don’t have the ability to run around in heels, so comfortable yet chic flats become an essential part of my existence. My favorite (and only) pair of silver flats just gave up, so I’d love to get a new pair. This luxurious version by Camilla Skovgaard immediately topped the list when I saw it. It has a perfectly rounded toe and the silver isn’t too flashy. At $367, this pair isn’t coming home with me anytime soon sadly. Anybody want to send me a pair in size 6.5/7? – Connie
