A Juicy Find
Full disclosure: when I was invited to a Juicy Couture event a few weeks ago, I decided to go – not because I was a Juicy fan- but because I was dying to meet Erin Fetherston- the California native whose clothes I fell in love with at her first Fashion Week show a few years ago. Erin is the newest designer on a Juicy collaboration and hosted a night of dinner and shopping for 15 online editors to drum up buzz for her new line, debuting this holiday.
Prior to the event, the last time I had entered the World of Juicy was sometime circa 2004, where I bought my one and only zip up hoodie. As I matured in my sartorial tastes, I also began seeing younger and younger clientele in velour track suits and thought that my days of Juicy were over.
That is until a few weeks ago when I stepped back into a Juicy store for the first time in years. I discovered that the fashion label has evolved with its original fans, and alongside the track suits and cutesy outfits, Juicy also housed distinctly grown up and chic ensembles that even the most discerning fashionista would be proud to wear. My favorite pick is a wool slouchy poncho (pictured above) which took me far on my recent trip to San Francisco. The light and draped nature is an essential alternative to the heavier winter coat (something I did not want to have to bust out during the summer, regardless of how cold it is in the Bay Area) while still providing essential warmth and outerwear style. The poncho looks especially wonderful when belted from the inside- creating a cinched waist in the front while maintaining a trendy cape effect in the back. The versatile piece matched with everything from shorts and skirts to jeans and dresses.
Erin’s collection for Juicy debuts this holiday season. In the meantime, if you haven’t been to the World of Juicy recently, I’d encourage you to stop by the store. Just like me, you may find yourself surprised and walk away with a juicy find.
