On my recent visit to San Francisco, I decided to escape the cold and the city with an overnight trip to Sonoma. California wine country boasts some of the world’s finest dining and drinking experiences- so it’s really a shame to go out for only a day trip. We decided to make Healdsburg, a beautiful, centrally located town our home base, and drive to all the vineyards surrounding it. After having done some research on lodging options in the town, I decided to check into Healdsburg Inn, a very charming, chic, and best of all comfortable hotel that is centrally located right in the town’s main plaza.
Having spent many nights in luxury hotels on travels, I recently became obsessed with the idea of finding places with local flavor. Walking into the boutique hotel, a member of the Four Sisters Inns, feels as if you’re walking into a California family’s house rather than an impersonal, stylized hotel. Despite being located in a commercial center, the interior of the Healdsburg Inn feels just like it could be a two story home- with warm, inviting decor, bay windows, plush carpeting, a front staircase, and platters of freshly baked cookies scattered throughout. The second floor features a real kitchen, always stocked with fresh coffee, teas and juices. Along the hallways, you’ll find bookshelves stocked full of novels and movies for your viewing pleasure. To further add to the at-home feel of the experience, guests are given a set of real keys- one for their room and one for the front door.
Now if the ambiance of the Healdsburg Inn feels like home, actually staying there must be everyone’s fantasy lifestyle come true! All guests are treated to friendly concierge services whether that means scheduling an in-room spa treatment, getting restaurant and winery recommendations, having breakfast delivered to bed, and evening turn down service. Complementary morning breakfast (with table service) and afternoon tea/wine is offered every morning in the upstairs dining room. Each guest room is stocked with luxurious amenities and features a working fireplace, flat screen TV, free high speed wireless Internet and jetted spa tub. Upon checking in, each guest is greeted by their own welcome note and for those staying for more than 5 nights, are treated to a Bon Voyage gift.
The Healdsburg Inn is also constantly running great specials – including second night half off and dining deals throughout the year. One of my favorite picks is the “Evening of Indulgence Package” where $404 will get you the best room available and a five course meal to world renowned Cyrus Restaurant. Just that package alone is incentive enough for me to return! For more information, check out the Healdsburg Inn website.
