Lust ListLust List: August 2010

ONE. Jimmy Choo Haze Leather Knee-High Boots — As summer winds down, I’m already looking forward to the fall. These boots are just perfect for the upcoming season! I love the double zippers, the added height of the platforms, and the gorgeous taupe/gray color. It would look so cute with tights in the cooler weather, or with a belted sweater dress. It’s a little (okay, a lot) out of my budget as a graduate student, but a girl can dream, right? – Nina

TWO. 1521 Second Avenue 1521 Second Avenue, a sophisticated condominium, is perhaps, the preeminent residential address in Seattle.  Rising high above Pike’s Place Market on Second Avenue, every condo in the building offers unobstructed water and city views.  A luxury building through and through, the residential units sizes average nearly 2000 ft of living space (their every-unit-is-a-penthouse philosophy) and equipped with top of the line options including heated limestone bathroom floors, motorized blackout window shades, spa showers, and my personal favorite, high tech Toto Neorest 500 toilets.  In working with the Seattle climate, most homes also feature a “glass room”- which opens up in the summer into an open outdoor balcony or can be closed off during the colder months as used as an indoor lounge, complete with fireplace. Truly in the center of it all, every view from every unit at 1521 Second Avenue puts you right up against the stunning Seattle skyline and makes you feel like you’re living in a mansion in the sky.  The westerly ocean views are also protected- guaranteeing that buying in the building is a true investment.  All the remaining units are on the market starting at $1.1million+ putting this on my lust list for the time being…but for those who are lucky enough to be in the market- be sure to check in for a night at their “Experience  Suite” on the 31st Fl to experience one-of-a-kind living!   -Carolyn

THREE. Anya Hindmarch Miami Card Case — My current card case has been retired after a long run, so I’ve been looking for a new one. This sleek patent leather one from Anya Hindmarch is so gorgeous. Looking more like a clutch than a card case, this has two compartments inside – one side for my cards, and the other side for cards received while networking. Sadly, unless this goes on sale, it’s a bit outside of what I want to spend! – Connie

FOUR. Kenneth Cole Reaction Coat with Belted Asymmetrical Zip — Even though it’s really hot in Los Angeles right now, I’m already dreaming of fall (and winter) clothes. Probably because “winter” here is one of my favorite times of the year since it gets cool, but never east coast cold. I saw this coat at Macy’s last weekend and totally fell in love with it on the rack. It’s just so adorable – from the gorgeous blue shade to the funky asymmetrical exposed zipper to the wide belt at the waist… I love it all. It even has side slit pockets so I can carry around my ever-present lip glosses. It’s not super expensive at $280 (and right now, it’s on sale for $168) but I’m going to have to keep lusting after it for the moment because I really can’t justify spending that much on a winter coat in such a mild climate when I own way too many of them already. (They’re just so fun to buy!) But if the price drops any further, it’s definitely coming home with me. – Stacey

FIVE. The model Fendi Casa unit at the Carlyle Residences — While I’m not really into high-rise living, this 3,500-square-foot, three-bedroom apartment at The Carlyle Residences on Wilshire (10776 Wilshire Blvd.) could change my attitude. In one of west L.A.’s most expensive buildings (priced from up to $15 million), the model Fendi unit is listed at about $5.6 million (ouch). While the powers that be have deemed available unit prices “negotiable,” even the discounted numbers are waaaaay over my head (just for some perspective, the least expensive apartments are a cool $2.5 million). Sigh. I suppose life with paparazzi-proof windows, a private wine locker, free valet parking and white-glove hotel service – oh, and Bruce Willis as a neighbor – will cost you. Still, after touring the swanky unit at a recent event, I will forever dream of its dark wood paneling, furry throws, expansive city views and the prettiest his and hers walk-in closets I’ve ever seen (they look like mini boutiques!). – Charli
