P.S. I Wish I Made This
I’m always incredibly inspired by the awesome handmade creations over at P.S. I Made This. Graceful ankle wrap sandals, pom pom necklaces, ruffle t-shirts, ways to customize your own clothes with the D&G paint inspired trend, this site is the ultimate in fashion do-it-yourself bags, clothing, and jewelry and offers an inventive solution to inexpensive style. My most recent favorite is this preppy chic iPad case, which can almost be mistaken for a fashionable clutch. Made out of an inflatable travel pillowcase, electrical tape, and gorilla cloth, I love the rattan stripe pattern of her original version, but you can pick out your own pattern and customize it when you select your pillowcase.
Not so great at do-it yourself? Check out a notebook inspired hard iPad case that reminds me of my favorite moleskins behind the jump (more…)
Behind the Seams (Not Dreams) of Inception
Over the weekend, I finally stopped being the last person on earth who hadn’t seen Inception, and saw a Sunday afternoon show with a few friends. I’m relieved that I can finally join in on conversations about things like tokens and concepts like “dreaming within a dream.” If you haven’t seen it yet, I completely recommend it.
But when leaving the movie theater I had one primary thought in my head and it wasn’t dream related. It was, “Wow, the suit tailoring in this movie is impeccable. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the other men in this movie have some hot looks.” Unfortunately, since I was with straight, non-metrosexual men, this was not a topic of interest (particularly my thoughts about the hotness of JGL’s looks as he bounded around in the hotel.) I loved how each male character in the movie had a sharply defined look that expressed an individual personality, although everyone wore suits. After the jump, check out where you can get their suits and some more details about their looks. (more…)
Insider’s Obsessions: Mimi Dakar Berry

As the daughter of skin care legend Sonya Dakar, Mimi Dakar Berry was born into the beauty business and has been working closely with her mom since she was a teenager. She’s now the Vice President of the company and handles (among other things) all of Sonya Daker Skin Clinic‘s special events, like the new rooftop treatment space. (Such a great idea! There is nothing nicer than getting pampered in such a relaxing space. I highly recommend it). We decided to check in on her and see what she’s obsessing over right now. Check it out below! (more…)
Denim & Rose
I pretty much am always in jeans. Dark wash, light wash, boot cut, skinny jeans… I own them all. They’re sort of my wardrobe staple, so when I heard that Bobbi Brown’s new collection was called Denim & Rose, I was all over it. How could I not be?
The Denim & Rose Palette is probably my favorite piece in the collection. The colors come in the cutest little zipped pouch that’s covered in denim. Adorable. When you try as much makeup as I do (I know, I know, poor me…), it’s always exciting when the packaging itself stands out and in this case, it definitely does. It’s also really compact, so it won’t take up much space if you’re packing it – another plus.
Inside you’ll find four eye shadows, four lip colors, and a blush. What I like about it is that you can create two distinct looks based on the shades – one that’s perfect for the daytime and one that’s definitely more of an after-hours sort of thing. While I love the daytime colors (they’re a neutral pinkish-white and cool grey) I absolutely adore the more playful shades. The Pink Granite Sparkle Eye Shadow pairs perfectly with the Dark Rinse Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow if you’re trying to create a sparkly smoky eye. (So pretty!) Swipe on the Cool Rose Creamy Lip color and you’re good to go. If you wear the neutral shadows, you can add a little fun to your look with either the Bright Pink Hot Rose Lip Gloss or the Iced Lilac Glitter Lip Gloss. The combinations are endless!
Ultra Shiny
During the summer, I wear a lot of lip glosses (as opposed to lipsticks) because the formula just seems more suited to the hot weather. My pet peeve in a gloss though is when it looks really bright in the tube, but after you buy it and get it home, you realize that you basically just paid $15 (or more!) for a glorified Chapstick. There’s no issue in that area with Benefit’s new Ultra Shines lip glosses. They’re available in five different shades and all of them are super vibrant and colorful.
I tested out Back to the Fuchsia (a sparkling fuchsia) and Spike Punch (a vibrant coral) and both of them made my gloss-loving heart very, very happy. They’re not sticky at all, so you never have to worry about getting a chunk of your hair stuck on your lips after a swift breeze, and the color sticks around for awhile, so you’re not constantly re-applying. And like the name suggests, they’re super shiny and in some cases, sparkly as well. (Back to the Fuchsia actually reminds me a little of a toned down MAC Dazzleglass, so if you’re a fan of those, you’ll probably like these, too). You can pick yours up at Sephora (and check out Benefit’s new palettes too while you’re there)!
