Ralph Lauren Pink Polo Campaign
This October to celebrate the ten year anniversary of Ralph Lauren Pink Pony, the brand partnered with 100 bloggers to get the word out. The Pink Pony Fund for cancer care and prevention is a worldwide effort to aid in the early diagnosis and treatment of cancer and Ralph Lauren donates 10% of all proceeds from it’s Pink Pony line to this fund.
One of my favorite ways to wear a black polo is a tip I picked up from one of the most stylish girls I met while i was working in fashion retail during college. Since I am a working gal, I love being able to transform the polo from a sporty/casual piece to something to take to the office. It’s a lot easier than it looks- simply pair with a pencil skirt and ultra high heels and you’ve got a preppy yet professional outfit. My skirt is from the Gap circa 2003 (one of the few things from college I can still wear!) and my shoes are YSL Tribtoos.
We were honored to be asked to participate in the campaign and join some of the Internet’s most influential figures to model the shirt. Be sure to logon to AOL Stylist to see how others have styled the pink pony polo and pick one up for yourself at RalphLauren.com.

Obsession of the Moment: Loeffler Randall Rain Boot with Back Zip
Modern Naturals

I used to buy Illume candles all the time, but for some reason, lately I haven’t purchased any because I’m still trying to get through the backlog of candles currently taking up way too much space in my closet. The problem is, most of those are what I’d call summer scents, and now that we’re heading into the fall, I want to burn richer scents that make me think of autumn. That’s where Illume’s new Modern Naturals collection comes in. There are five different scents in the collection and they’re all perfect to bridge the transition from spending your days in the pool to dragging out the hats, scarves and gloves again. Here are the five scents:
- Citron Basil – Refreshing citron zest and basil leaf infused with Spanish rosemary, green hyacinth and sheer musk
- Earth Rose – An alluring blend of sensual rose and patchouli topped with midnight jasmine and sparkling mandarin leaf and lavender
- Persimmon & Spice – Persimmon and fresh pumpkin top this spicy blend of nutmeg and clove
- Quince Cypress – Cypress, Siberian fir and eucalyptus are infused with quince, black currant and lime
- White Thyme & Pear – Crisp pear and fresh thyme blended with a hint of soft jasmine and rich vanilla
I tested out the Citron Basil and Quince Cypress scents and loved them both. Citron Basil is lighter – sort of a citrusy, spicy blend and Quince Cypress is a richer, deeper scent. I could definitely smell the fir and eucalyptus in it, which I love, but neither was overpowering. What’s great about these scents is that you can get them in several different sizes, from the Mini Glass Candles, which are $7 and burn for 15 hours, to the Boxed Glass Candles, which are $28 and burn for 65 hours. They’re even available in Reed Diffusers. (I’m a huge diffuser fan because I’m always nervous that I’ll forget to blow a candle out before I leave my place, so I feel like diffusers give me peace of mind sometimes). I’m so ready for the cooler weather to start…
Pig Island

During my five years as a Manhattanite, I’ve never once made it to Governor’s Island- though not for lack of trying as I’ve been wanting to go all summer. This coming Saturday, however, I’m determined to make it- boyfriend in tow to check out the first annual Pig Island.
Pig Island is a culinary festival featuring local food, NY State wines, Six Point Craft Ales, and live music. Twenty chefs from some of New York City’s finest venues will be preparing their specialties. I just got the menu and restaurant lineup (see below) for the event and it looks like it’ll be an amazing day of foodies. Just checked the weather too and it looks like the sun will be cooperating. For more information and tickets, check out their website!. (more…)
Browology by Hibba

Confession: Before my trip back east during the summer, I had never had my eyebrows done before. I know, right?! But in my defense, I was just a little scared. My eyebrows aren’t that thick, they’re pretty shapeless, and they’re kinda sparse. One bad waxing and I could have gross, pencil-thin brows–so when Hibba NYC contacted me about coming in to try threading, I was intrigued. Especially since Hibba herself calls what she does “browology”–the art of creating perfect eyebrows for the unique shape of your face. I knew I would have a personalized experience, so I decided to go for it.
And am I ever glad that I did! Hibba talked me through the quick process of threading in her beauty studio in SoHo. She was warm and welcoming, which was great since I was nervous, and I trusted her judgment with my eyebrows. She created a soft, natural-looking arch that suited my face perfectly. They weren’t too thin, but they looked neat and shaped. For a night out, my trusty eyebrow pencil was pretty much all I needed for eyebrow perfection. I just wish there was someone like Hibba in Chicago! For you lucky NYC gals, find Hibba at 448 W. Broadway or call 212.260.4321 to book an appointment. Hibba’s browology threading service is $15 and you can find out more at hibbabeauty.com.
Marchesa x Le Métier de Beauté

métier: Webster’s Dictionary definition, an area of activity in which one excels. See Le Métier de Beauté, in Beauty (naturally) and Marchesa for jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring red-carpet-creations like this and this.
With these similarities at dominating in their respective areas, it’s no surprise that the Marchesa x Le Métier de Beauté collaboration is in a word, awesome, and as Joanna Austin, president of Le Métier de Beauté explained “a collaboration in the most literal sense of the word.” With slim, glossy credit-card sized face palettes, highlighter pens, and dual-ended lip glosses, Marchesa designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig have put together a collection of Le Métier de Beauté makeup celebrating the best in quality and luxury.
The spotlight of the collection are the La Lune (night) and Le Soleil (sun) face palettes created by Georgina and Keren respectively, both of which I can’t stop using. Here’s what you can find in each palette: (more…)
City Files: San Francisco & Bay Area: September 2010

A couple months ago my boyfriend, a former resident of San Francisco, took me to some of his favorite places in the city and surrounding areas. Despite having traveled to SF a few times, I always find new favorite discoveries every time I visit. This time, it was even better having a (once) local show me the non-touristy spots. (more…)
Wellness at the Vida Spa

A couple months ago, I woke up to a rainy, cool Seattle morning and felt a pang of the blues. From all the years I’ve lived in Seattle, I’ve realized that when it’s your nth grey, rainy day there’s nothing you need more than just to relax and bathe in some heat. So now as we’re heading into the fall, I wanted to share one of my favorite pick-me-up finds in the city- Vida Spa at the Pan Pacific Hotel- and specifically their line of Ayurvedic treatments which could relax and reinvigorate anyone.
