Hotels, San Francisco, TravelHotel Diva

Travelers to San Francisco looking for accommodation have no doubt come across the Personality Hotels, a quartet of boutique properties located in downtown Union Square.  On my last trip out there, I popped into Hotel Diva for a night to check it out and found it to be a great option for those (especially for a girls trip)  who want the convenience of being right in the center of it all, at an affordable price.

Hotel Diva is located at 440 Geary Street, across from the American Conservatory Theatre and within a stone’s throw away from the city’s lively shopping, dining and entertainment scene. What I liked about Hotel Diva is that it focuses more on functionality than over the top frills, yet still does it with style.  The hotel is designed to have a minimalist, industrial look and while the lobby and public areas are not particularly grand–they do focus on the essentials–and gets them right!  I found the rooms themselves to be very spacious, especially for downtown San Francisco, and stocked with the right amenities to make your stay very comfortable.  Guestrooms house numerous couches and chairs, an ergonomic work station, ample closet space, flat screen TVs, free  high speed wireless internet (a still rare, but amazing perk), and very comfortable beds stocked with plenty of fluffy pillows.  And the best part?  All of this starts at just $149 a night, making it a can’t-go-wrong choice especially if you’re sharing with a few friends. At that price range, most of the hotels I’ve visited are rather corporate or bland, but Diva has (you guessed it…) personality.  In fact, for this rate, Hotel Diva is hands down the most pleasant property we’ve stayed at.

For the month of October, the hotel is doing a fabulous special which includes 25% off the best available rate, a 2pm checkout and a $10 Starbucks card upon arrival. Diva’s design team says that their vision for the hotel is “sort of the perfect one night stand”–but with deals like this who wouldn’t want to be coming back?  More information is available on their website:

Sounds good Carolyn .. BTW for more of a neighborhood feel in San Fran, have you checked out the Washington Square Inn in North Beach? I’ve stayed there several times and always loved it. Very small and homey with location to die for.
