Shine With Dior

If you’re looking to sparkle and shine this holiday season, I highly suggest checking out Dior’s new collection.  The two new eye palettes are so pretty – they’re all about shimmer and lighter colors with a dark shade to accent – a great look for a night out or even for the daytime if you make sure not to go too heavy-handed.  The Five Golds palette has five different shimmer shades in it – shimmering black, copper shimmer, silver shimmer, light gold shimmer, and bronze shimmer.  They’re all gorgeous and blend together really well to create a look that’s out of the ordinary without being too crazy sparkly.  I have green eyes so I’m slightly obsessed with silver shadow and this is one of the prettiest I’ve found.  It really makes my eyes stand out, which is kind of the point of shimmer shadow, right?  The other new eye palette I picked up is called Endless Shine.  It’s somewhat similar to Five Golds in that the shades are shimmery, but Endless Shine is based around a dark brown shimmer shade, not black, and it also includes a peach shimmer and a light brown shimmer that are different from the ones in the Five Golds palette.  At $58 each, they’re definitely a splurge, so if you’re looking to add some shimmer to your look and you’re on a budget, I suggest checking them both out so you can decide which one works better for you.

I also tried two Dior Ultra-Gloss Flash lip glosses that are on two opposite ends of the color spectrum.  Pink Stiletto is a sheer, sparkling pink – it’s a great light gloss for when you’re not wearing much makeup, but it would also pair nicely with a smoky eye (such as one you could create with the Five Golds palette).  I’m always on the lookout for a nice pink gloss that isn’t too sticky or too drying and this one fits the bill nicely.  It wears about two hours on me before I start to feel like I need to reapply, and I really like the subtle glimmer it has.  The second Ultra-Gloss Flash that I tried out was really interesting.  It’s called Black Lame and you can find it exclusively at Sephora.  It’s really unusual because it’s so dark (it’s described as a dark violet black).  If it went on as pigmented as it seems in the tube, it would probably look bizarre, but instead, it goes on a lot sheerer, so it seems almost like a rich berry shade, but you can definitely still see the black in it.  I can’t think of any other glosses I’ve tried that are quite this shade, which is kind of amazing when I think about the mass amount of them that I own.  It’s definitely worth playing around with, especially when you layer it over other lipstick shades.  So fun!
