Cheap & ChicCheap & Chic: December 2010

ONE. Assouline’s The Well-Lived Life by Dominique Browning — Is there a publishing house more chic than Assouline?  We think not- and what a better coffee table book than one that examines a well lived life?  This title, filled with stunning photography and articles from House & Garden, examines style, design and decor.  Not only is this a coffee table book that you’ll actually read, but one that will actually inspire you to examine your life.  A perfect gift for your favorite chic couple or for yourself, without breaking the bank.  - Carolyn

TWO. CB2 3-piece Lotus Candleholder — Whether it’s a gift for you, a yoga lover or a stressed-out friend, this large stoneware candleholder is the perfect statement piece to spell R-E-L-A-X. I love that it separates into three candle holders with the ability to hold big pillar candles, or joins together into a beautiful lotus shape to hold a small candle. And it would look gorgeous in any room. Pretty genius for only $14.95. - Charli

THREE. Post-it — Making a New Year’s resolution to get your home and office more organized this year? Share your inspiration with your friends and family with Post-its. Far from the original neon block of stickies, their collection of “Poptimistic” pads and organizational stationery will give your cube a boost! One of their most useful yet delightfully designed items is the Printed Sticky Notes with Magnet – easy to put up on the fridge or magnet board so you can gleefully check off your to do or shopping list. Their Personal pocket sized Journals and Sticky Five Day Personal Calendars are perfect to toss in your purse, laptop bag or easily store in a drawer to tackle your to dos when you want. Most under $20, how could you not snap these up? - Liz

FOUR. Williams-Sonoma Butter Pecan Spread — I’ve always been obsessed with Williams-Sonoma’s Pumpkin Pecan Butter, and now I can add their Butter Pecan Spread to the list as well. It’s an insanely rich and creamy spread that’s made with brown sugar, pecans, carmelized sugar, milk, and butter. I’m sure it’s filled with a crazy amount of calories, but somehow that doesn’t seem to stop me when I’m spreading it all over toast or pancakes. (And if you’re looking for an inexpensive and personalized gift still, you could always package it up with a basket of homemade muffins). I’m already stocking up just in case it’s a seasonal item and it ever goes away! - Stacey

FIVE. Gap Striped Back Button Scoopneck T — A striped tee is a wardrobe classic and I love this affordable version offered by Gap. The scoopneck is flattering for the decolletage, the thin stripes are just right, and the brass buttons on the back add a bit of fun and interest. And for $19.50, you won’t feel guilty for picking this up in multiples! - Connie
