Nick Brown is the founder of Soludos, a chic brand of espadrilles. As the son of a diplomat and a famous English model, Nick grew up seeing the world – from winter holidays in Switzerland to summers in Sotogrande, Spain. It was in Spain where he first discovered espadrilles as the European summer staple, and after moving to the States later in his life, he found himself bringing them back as gifts for friends. He decided to launch Soludos to make them accessible and affordable for Americans. With his line, Nick aimed to capture “the spontaneity, freedom of travel with friends – that perfect summer day/ trip among friends where day seamlessly turns to night, while always telling stories and making memories.” To find out what Nick is obsessing over this month, just click for more!
ONE. Canon G-12 Camera– This camera simply can’t take bad pictures. It’s a point a shoot but with all the manual aperture dials of an SLR. Combined with the custom underwater case, it’ll turn any innocent dip into a wet photo shoot.
TWO. Olasul — My good mate Lorenz Korder launched his Peruvian surf brand Olasul last June. A colorful, confident yet refined design of board shorts inspired by Peru’s rich surf culture. Pink isn’t for the shy, but the fit is perfect. I lived in these for the summer.
THREE. Gypsy & The Cat — The Aussi duo has been burning up my iPod of late. Their MGMTish sound is laced with 80s nostalgia and sprinkled with a little 90s French disco synth driven Daft Punk kick. Their debut album, Gilgamesh has the infectious tunes “Time to Wander” and “Joan of Arc.”
FOUR. Soludos — I know its obvious – but I am obsessed! They really are the perfect shoe for that spontaneous summers day which seamlessly turns to night.
FIVE. Illeseteva ‘Howard’ Sunglasses — I picked up a pair of these handmade wooden sunglasses from NY based designers ‘Illesteva’ at the new Soho Beach House in Miami. The smooth handmade wood finish makes these retro style specs a unique and surprisingly light piece.
