I think I speak for all of us at TDO when saying that I’m just a bit envious of Andria Mitsakos, wanderlista, designer and PR guru. Always a lover of travel, Andria first came onto the scene in 2003 as the president of AMPR, a hospitality communications firm representing an international roster of exclusive travel and lifestyle brands. Many of her clients have made it into TDO in our lust lists and travel obsessions. In 2010, Andria channeled her worldly and well cultivated style into another one of her passions- design. She launched a collection of exotic skin handbags while living in Italy. Her line, Dea Rosa, is a tribute to her late grandmother and focuses on clean lines, a streamlined color palette, and affordable, luxurious styles. Having spent time and many many email conversations with Andria, I can attest to the fact that her warmth attracts new confidants, while her little black book connects her to old friends in the media, travel and fashion industries- making her the ultimate insider! Below she shares with us what makes her life so fabulous!
ONE. Hotel de la Paix - Cambodia is my absolute, hands-down new obsession. A place where tourism is so new, so raw, that the enlightened sense of the Cambodian people brighten your inner being. Temples yes. Angkor Wat at sunrise? For sure don’t miss it. But what makes this country amazing are the smiles and the stories of the people. The gorgeous Hotel de la Paix is an incredible spot that contributes significantly to the local community. I’m planning the fund-raising efforts for the Sewing School they sponsor in 2011. The hotel also has rotating exhibits from various local artisans. Shopping, spa, sustainability…all rolled into one contemporary oasis centrally located in the middle of Siem Reap.
TWO. Dea Rosa – Dea Rosa is my new exotic skin handbag collection made in Italy. Its hallmark: a polished blend of mid-century sophistication and femininity with the prevailing ease of today’s modern woman. It’s understated glamour that effortlessly combines style and substance. Strong shapes softened by texture and palette; a subtle clutch that easily works for lunch in New York and dinner in Milan. Inspired and enhanced by my travels, Dea Rosa embraces freedom.
THREE. Valmont Renewing Pack- The absolute answer for dehydrated skin, this divinely rich mask keeps my skin super quenched. On long-haul flights, I just slather it on, massage it in and land in my destination looking refreshed. If I could have one thing in my carry-on, it’s this lifesaver.
FOUR. Quentin Veron – All over the runways, fur is the new black. This 23-year-old French designer has made fur wearable again. No old lady minks in this collection—his designs are fresh, lightweight and fun.
FIVE. Catalina Aerospace – Ben Nemser and his fleet get me from A to B super fast, and he’s about 25% less than all the other private air companies. I spend so much time bouncing around, I might as well do it in one of Ben’s Hawkers. Added perk: no security lines and no TSA rules on my cosmetics.
