Texas Style

So even though I grew up on the east coast and live in Los Angeles now, I have a strange, secret interest in Texas. But only like, the Texas in romantic comedies, where good-looking cowboys roam the streets and say “ma’am” in cute Southern drawls, not the Texas in horror movies where tumbleweeds roll around deserted streets and serial killer families take over small towns. I’m dying to visit Austin, but it just hasn’t happened yet. So, of course, when I saw that OPI‘s new spring/summer 2011 shades were named the Texas Collection, I got a little giddy.
Unlike some of their previous collections, this one has a wide variety of shades – there are colors ranging from blues to pinks to corals, but what they all have in common is that they’re bold and dramatic. There aren’t a lot of shades for shy girls in this bunch! And as always, the shades names are cute and funny – they perfectly match the shades inside. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Too Hot Pink To Hold ‘Em – This bright pinkish-red is the perfect color for a pedicure. You can wear it on your toes now to remind you that summer will eventually be here, then pull it back out in a few months to hit the beach.
- Big Hair… Big Nails – This bold peachy coral is a great choice to show off short fingernails and the hottest shade for spring – anything orange.
- San-Tan-Tonio – This honey colored shade is the only real “neutral” in the bunch, so it’s perfect for work.
- It’s Totally Fort Worth It – It’s such a pretty shimmery lavender grey – very different than any polish I already own, which automatically makes it a must own for me.
These are only a few of my favorites – there are 12 total shades in the collection, so it’s definitely worth checking out because you’re bound to find a couple that you love too. The Texas Collection is in stores now, and you can also check out all the shades at www.opi.com.
