Cheap & ChicCheap & Chic: July 2011

ONE. Soludos OC Espadrilles — My neighbor has a growing line of comfy slip-on shoes à la TOMS outside her front door; and despite being a heels addict, I’ve been eager to try a pair. These unisex beauties from espadrille maker Soludos, available in exclusive prints at Opening Ceremony for only $35, might just get me to do so. If only I could decide which pattern to get (I’m leaning toward Red Linen or Pink Liberty). Thoughts? - Charli

TWO. Rifle Paper Co. Gold Floral Thank You Cards — Two of us editors (hey Nina!) are recently engaged, so I’m sure we’ll both be doing our fair share of thank you note writing in the upcoming months. These $18 thank you note cards by Rifle Paper Co. are perfectly elegant – brightly floral with a touch of luxurious gold. Who wouldn’t want to receive this in the mail? - Connie

THREE. Paloma’s Nest I Carry Your Heart Tiny Text Bowl — I love the Tiny Text Bowls from Paloma’s Next for their decorative uses, but I bought this particular one with a specific purpose in mind. The bowl looks perfect on my bathroom counter, where I use it to house my newest, most precious belonging–my engagement ring! I use the bowl to catch my engagement ring so it won’t get soapy when I wash my hands, or when I am taking a shower. It is handmade and hand-stamped with a line from one of my favorite e.e. cummings poems. So perfect! - Nina

FOUR. Nicola Yoon Branch Lariat in Pacific Opal & Tangerine Citrine – One of our favorite jewelry designers has come up with even more ways to tempt us! Nicola Everyday is Nicola Yoon Design’s latest collection that encompasses their signature delicate, feminine beauty while being even more accessible. The same select gems and handmade crafting go into each piece of jewelry for easy, every day wear. My pick this summer is the Branch Lariat Necklace, only $47. - Liz

FIVE. Slatkin & Co. Eucalyptus Mint Candle — I burn candles constantly, and my favorite kind of scents are usually either clean or energizing. The Eucalyptus Mint candle from Slatkin & Co. is both. The smell is amazing – it reminds me of the soothing scent you usually find when you walk into a spa, and it’s strong enough to fill a large space in a matter of minutes. The candles are also a great deal – a 14.5 ounce size is only $19.50, and since they’re sold at Bath & Body Works, you can usually find deals or coupons that’ll let you stock up even more. I’ll definitely be burning Eucalyptus Mint at my place all month (and probably all year!) - Stacey
