Not that you would know it by the temperature in Los Angeles (which hit a scorching 107 degrees a few days before I’m writing this), but fall is not that far away. Which means changing up my fragrances a little (always fun!) Here are three of the newest scents I’ve tried that have me longing even harder for colder days.
Oh, Lola! is another release in Marc Jacobs popular Lola line. Described as a “sparkling, fruity floral,” I think it’s lighter than the original Lola and perfectly suited to daytime wear. As someone who adores fruity fragrances, I love that the first note listed for this one is Effervescent Raspberry (doesn’t that sound like it would make a good drink too?) The other top notes are Frais Des Bois and Pear, with Peony, Magnolia, Vanilla and Sandalwood also making an appearance. It’s funny – I don’t love straight up florals, but scents like this with a mixture of fruits and florals are a different story. They’re just so girly and fun – I can’t resist them! And I love the Lola family bottles, with their cheerful flower tops. They look so cute on my dresser, they make even 6am alarms slightly more tolerable!
Forbidden Euphoria is the younger interpretation of the Euphoria fragrance and is a fruity floriental scent. (I told you I love that combo!) It has top notes of Sparkling Mandarin, Peach Blossom and Iced Raspberry (I guess Raspberry is popular this fall!) The middle notes are Pink Peony, Tiger Orchid, and Jasmine, and the drydown releases notes of Cashmere Woods, Patchouli and Skin Musk. This one might sound like Oh, Lola! in theory, but it’s not at all in reality. Forbidden Euphoria is muskier and deeper – to sound totally cheesy, it’s a more sensual scent. I’d wear this one out on a date or dancing with friends because it’s really modern and sexy. Exactly how I like to feel when I go out!
As I’ve said here a dozen times, CLEAN is one of my all-time favorite brands, so whenever they release a new scent, I get ridiculously excited. Their new offering, Skin, continues my streak of being obsessed with everything they do. It’s described as a “soapy yet creamy, musky fragrance” and is meant to capture the scent of warm skin when you step out of the shower. It’s different than the other CLEAN scents in that it’s not as soapy smelling (and I meant that in the best possible way because I love their “soapy” scents). Skin is a little warmer and sexier – I think those of you out there who haven’t previously loved the CLEAN brand (perish the thought!) should check this one out because it’s really pretty. It has interesting notes too – top notes include Sheer Honeydew, Lotus Blossom, and Fresh Air Accord, while the mid notes are Dewy Petals, Aquatic Notes, and Blue Rose, and the base notes are White Musk, Amber Wood and Vanilla. I kind of think it smells like skin on a hot summer night – sexy, but not overpowering. So gorgeous. My streak of CLEAN perfection continues!
