Shiny Happy Holiday is the heading on the press release for the new Essie luxeffects collection and it’s so perfectly apropos that I had to use it myself. Luxeffects is a new collection of multi-dimensional top coats that Essie’s releasing for the holiday season. They’re meant to be worn a number of different ways – you can wear them by themselves for a sheerer look or layer them over each other or shades you already own to create your own unique look. It’s a relatively small collection with only five shades, but the colors are so pretty and feminine that you won’t feel like you’re missing anything. Here’s what you’ll find in the collection:
- As Gold As It Gets – Gilded lamé sparkles
- Shine Of The Times – Scintillating opalescence
- A Cut Aboce – Shattered pink diamond glitz
- Pure Pearlfection – Decadent iridescence
- Set In Stones – Disco mirror ball chaos
Of course I’m obsessed with the two super-glittery shades (A Cut Above and Pure Pearlfection) because I can’t get enough of glitters lately and these two are so pretty. Especially Pure Pearlfection, with its silver sparkles that almost look like sequins in the bottle. It looks great layered over a dark base color, like a black, or even over a dark gray shade. I love it as a pedicure shade (for New Year’s Eve maybe?) I’m normally not big on sheer shades on my nails, but I really love the way two coats of As Gold As It Gets looks. It’s subtle, but not too nude and the sparkle shines through fantastically. I’m really excited to play around with these some more and try some other combinations. I’m thinking of maybe layering As Gold As It Gets over a bold red or pairing up my favorite light blue with Set In Stones. They all sound fun!
Luxeffects will be available wherever Essie is sold in December. You can also check out Essie’s entire shade wardrobe at www.essie.com.
