The Oscars are over, but after several nail-biting Oscar pools, my nails could use some serious red carpet treatment. A big thank you goes out to Julep, who anticipated this by sending over their gorgeous Julep Oscars Collection. With seven luxuriously rich shades, it’s hard to choose which one to wear first; but since Meryl Streep won Best Actress, I think I’ll start with her “natural, sophisticated gray crème.” (It also goes with my Julep “What’s Your Style?” quiz result: Classic, with a twist.) The Oscars Collection includes: (more…)

We finally made it the most glamourous awards show of the year: the Oscars! Just as we expected, we saw some gorgeous gowns and amazing hairstyles. While we can’t help you score a vintage Dior dress, we have great tips to get your hair looking red-carpet ready. Wella Professionals was responsible for some of the best looks of the night, and now their celebrity stylists are sharing their tips on how they created these hot Hollywood hairstyles.
I’ve always really been into beauty kits- I just love the idea of having a regimen of products all picked out without having to do any work on my part. This season, I’m especially loving the set Veuve Cliquot put together with Fresh Cosmetics: “Clicquot in the Snow“- a curated selection of Fresh products that takes care of your skin during cold weather, regardless of if you’re in the city, on the ski slopes or jet-setting in between the two. As much as I love the darker nail shades of the fall and winter, once I’ve been wearing them for a few months, I’m totally ready to strip them off and put some bright colors on my fingers and toes. China Glaze’s Electropop collection came along right in the nick of time this year. The twelve shades are all bold and fun, none of them boring, and they make me think of spring and the gorgeous shades that fill yards when the season’s new flowers start to spring up. (more…)
We’re giving away a month’s worth of BeautyMint skincare to a lucky reader! Entering is 100% free: register with BeautyMint & leave a comment below and one person will be drawn by random.
If you’ve ever wanted customized skincare but without the hassle of having to do a ton of research yourself, you’ll have to give BeautyMint a try! The service not only provides a completely personalized line of products suited for your skin needs (backed by celebrity dermatologist, Nerida Joy), it even delivers them right to your door every month. Talk about star treatment!
The process starts off with a simple and (I thought, pretty fun) quiz where you provide details about what aspects of skincare are most important to you (wrinkles? sunspots? elasticity?). I, naturally, put all of the above as very important for me to address and the site recommends a regiment of different products based on your skin needs. Products range from the basic cleanser and moisturizer to very area-specific targeted treatments such as Brightening Eye Gel (I also put dark circles as very important issue I need to address). The best part is- everything you need is shipped to you and super easy to use so you don’t need to worry about figuring out different products for different needs. Oh and products are shipped monthly so you will always have a fresh batch to start off each month. Each month’s supply ranges between $39.99 and $49.99, which is a steal for an entire regime!
TDO has partnered with BeautyMint to give away a beauty kit to a lucky reader- register with the site and be sure to leave a comment below to enter. You can also use promotion code DAILY to get $20 off your first month’s kit. We can’t wait to hear more about your experience!
It’s almost too good to be true that smack dab, in the middle of Fashion Week, are the Hunger Games of red carpet dressing: the Oscars. Most people daydream about winning the Oscar, I daydream about the important stuff: what designer, color, type of gown, makeup, and hairstylist I would I go for if I were attending. My answers change, depending upon my mood (except for the color, I’m pretty steadfast on yellow), but here are a few ladies that I think have worn the best Oscar dresses of all time:
Audrey Hepburn in Edith Head.
Uma Thurman in Prada
Nicole Kidman in Christian Dior

As much as I love collections with a ton of different pieces (MAC, I’m looking at you…) I also really appreciate the smaller collections with only a few choice pieces. It’s so much easier to figure out what you want when you’re not looking at 16 different glosses or 27 different shadows. (I’m exaggerating, but you know what I mean). MAKE UP FOR EVER‘s new La Bohème collection only has 4 products in it, but they’re all flirty and fun and perfect for spring.
The La Bohème Baked Eye Shadow Palette comes in a fabulously patterned and colorful package that contains 6 baked shadows in Lagoon Green, Vegetal Green, Beige, Parma Purple, Brown and Coral. They’re all sort of soft and pretty, and the formula is enriched with mineral powders and a high concentration of pearl to give them a shimmery effect. I like baked shadows because they look fairly sheer when applied dry, but when you add water, the shades get deeper and richer. When I look at the palette, I feel like I should pair the shades with a maxi-dress and really cool sunglasses for a stroll along the Seine, but that might just be wishful thinking since I’m in dire need of a vacation!
The shadows are paired with the La Bohème Aqua Eyes liner. It’s a matte dark brown, but the original Aqua Eyes packaging has a floral design added to the cap. So cute! The packaging for this collection just makes me so happy. The Aqua Eyes liners are fabulous, so if you haven’t tried one yet, this might be a good basic shade to pick up to get your start. The other two items in the collection are both La Bohème Rouge Artist Natural lipsticks in two different shades – Bohème and Folk. Bohème is an iridescent peach beige and Folk is an iridescent red coral. Again, I LOVE the packaging. It might sound silly to talk so much about it, but there’s just so much makeup out there that when the packaging on some stands out so well, it really sets it apart. Plus, on a purely shallow level, it just looks cute when you take it out of your clutch at dinner!
The La Bohème collection is sold exclusively at Sephora, so head to your nearest store to check it out.
