A good daily skincare routine helps keep your skin well maintained, moisturized and healthy, but it can’t perform miracles on its own. As your body’s largest organ, your skin’s condition is closely tied to your lifestyle such as how you eat, drink, sleep and exercise. Below we share some tips on how you can keep your skin healthy by making good lifestyle choices.
1. DONT DRINK ALCOHOL EXCESSIVELY
According to some studies, excess alcohol consumption can deplete Vitamin A levels in our bodies. Vitamin A is responsible for promoting cell turnover which keeps our skin fresh, youthful and healthy. In addition, Vitamin A is also important to helping our skin defend against free radicals, molecules that cause aging and damage by breaking down collagen fibers. Thus the result is that when our Vitamin A level goes down, our skin is unable to fight the bad stuff or renew itself, making it dull and damaged. Too much drinking can actually lead to faster aging.
Water is nature’s best moisturizer and an essential part to keeping every cell functioning properly- like the cells that are responsible for turning over to keep your skin looking healthy and glowing. Dehydration immediately shows up on your skin by causing it to look sallow and well, dry and flaky. Water also helps to flush out toxins and keeps your system running smoothly- and a healthy body is reflected in your skin.
When shopping for skincare products, make sure to pick items that are free of unnecessary irritants. The Simple Skincare Kind to Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturizer is super hydrating with a rich formula that offers 12-hours of moisturization. It’s particularly great if you have sensitive skin because it gets the job done without using any harsh ingredients, perfumes or dyes.
3. MAINTAIN A HEALTHY SEX LIFE
There are lots of good things having sex can do your body- such as blood circulation, releasing endorphins that make you feel happier, and relieve stress. Now some studies have shown that having sex also released the hormone DHEA (dehydroepiandrostone), which- you guessed it- helps to keep skin youthful. According to one study at the NIH, DHEA can “improve skin brightness and counteract papery appearance of skin and epidermal atrophy.”
Of course there are many other ways to keep your skin healthy too such as exercising regularly, not smoking, maintaining a healthy diet and finding products that work for you. What are some of your tried and true tips and tricks?
