Okay, I admit it. I’m one of the only people in the world who hasn’t read any of The Hunger Games books, but in my defense, I’ve been really busy. (Plus, I’m going on vacation in April and I kind of want to put the trilogy on my Kindle for the long plane rides.) Regardless of that though, I’m super excited about the new Capital Colours collection of nail polishes from China Glaze. It’s a 12 piece collection that was inspired by The Hunger Games books and will be available in early March, but I was lucky enough to get 6 of the shades sent to me early and I’ve been having so much fun playing around with them.
My favorite of the 6, which I’m currently wearing on my fingers, is Fast Track. It’s a gorgeous camel/gold shade that shimmers beautifully. It’s the perfect neutral because you can wear in anywhere, but it’s not boring at all. It reminds me a lot of All Hail the Queen from Butter London, which is one of my favorite colors of all time, so I’m very happy to have another option I love as much. Foie Gras is a smoky dark brown shade – again, it’s a great neutral, although much darker than Fast Track. Riveting is a bright, shimmery orange with a touch of red to it. Very pedicure worthy, although I have a feeling I’ll also be wearing this one on my fingers when I get sick of Fast Track and want to be a little bolder. If you like browns, you’ll love Mahogany Magic. It’s a lighter brown than Foie Gras, but it has a great glossy finish to it. I’ll bet this one would look great on those of you with darker skin tones (my pasty white skin doesn’t really do it justice!) Smoke and Ashes continues my recent love affair with greens. It’s a very dark (almost black) deep sparkly green. So, so pretty. I want to wear this one on both my fingers and toes! The last shade I tried is Electrify. It’s a gold and red glitter mix that made me say “Ohhh” when I first laid eyes on it. It’s so different and fun and nicely fits in with my glitter polish obsession. (I swear, if they weren’t so damn hard to get off, I would wear them all the time)
The polishes will retail for $7 each, and I think we all know that they’re going to sell out incredibly fast, so if you want to get the full set, I suggest stalking your local beauty supply store or asking them to put some aside for you when they come in (if they’ll even do that – I have a feeling they won’t be allowed). I know I’ll be doing that to get the other 6 in the collection!
