Beauty, HairRedken Smooth Lock

Every summer (and ok, every other season too) it seems like I’m fighting frizz. Sure I’ve loaded my hair with all kinds of oils and potions that promise to tame frizz but the effects of those products always seem to be short lived and always requires some extra effort to apply.  I was looking for something that could help me get my frizzy locks under control without too much extra work on my part. Oh, and did I mention my hair was also kind of fried from too much heat styling? I needed some help for that too. Enter Redken’s new Smooth Lock in-salon service and at-home regimen- the treatment that has changed my hair’s life for the smoother, softer, healthier and better.

The Smooth-Lock system starts with a 2-step semi-permanent in-salon service that is performed right over the sink as you get shampooed.  After cleaning your hair, the stylist will apply the Smooth Activator which relaxes the hair, making it smooth and soft.  This step takes about fifteen minutes or so to set in.  Then you head on over to the styling chair where the Smooth Sealer is applied to lock in the newly relaxed and smoothed hair. The products work using a system of thermal active polymers that retain internal moisture while locking out frizz, almond oil to condition and add shine and proteins that help to strengthen the hair from the inside out.

The results are immediate. Hair is instantly shined, smoothed, and oh-so-soft.  The results from the treatment alone lasts through 10 shampoos without any extra maintenance.

However, if you’re like me and always trying to extend the results of salon treatments, Redken has an answer for you: their new Smooth Lock retail collection- consisting of a shampoo, conditioner and three styling products that will keep your hair in this post-salon service sleekness.  Daily usage of the shampoo and conditioner keep my locks super soft and manageable.  Even on days when I don’t style or blow-dry after showering, my hair eases into a smooth finish.  When I do choose to heat style, I always use either the Stay Sleek leave-in cream or the Heat Glide protective smoother, which prevents my hair from going back to the fried state and keeps my locks moisturized and frizz-free.

The other day I went to go get my hair blown out for an event.  I’d just walked in with air dried hair and the stylist immediately complimented me on how smooth and frizz-free my hair was in the heat. “What great hair texture you have!” she said, as if my hair naturally behaved that well. Rii-ght. Well, I guess that will just be me and Redken’s little secret!

I love Redken products and I use Redken Real Control. I’m of hispanic descent. Have very long wavy hair that gets frizzy in humid weather or if I don’t blow dry it completely. I love to straighten it Real Control has been the only shampoo out of every other brand that has conquer my frizz. It would last for more than a week even if I travel in the summer to humid climates outside the US. People loved my hair and complimented me every time. I went to PR this summer and my hair got very frizzy again which it hadn’t done on any prior visits since I started using Real Control. I guess I could give this one a try???

I read about Redken’s Smooth Lock collection in an Allure magazine several weeks before it came out and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. My hairstylist used the Redken Smooth Lock Stay Sleek leave-in creme and even after going to sleep with damp hair (which I know is bad) the next morning I was surprise on how smooth and easy it was to straighten. I recently used Real Control, now I think the Smooth Lock collection is more ideal for my hair. Next I plan on using that treatment you wrote about and hopefully the salon I go gets the Chemistry shot that goes with it.
