When it comes to corals, Benefit makes, hands down, some of the most beautiful and wearable ones on the market. I have been a long time user of ChaChaTint, a juicy mango stain that gives your cheeks that perfectly sheer wash of color. Then last year, I was obsessed with Hervana, which I used every single day in the morning and then again before heading out of work. Just one swirl over its pretty surface of peach, coral, and berry triangles, produced an angelic flush that worked with any makeup look I was going for. And now, my reach-for product is Benefit’s Fine One One (which by the way, I always mis-read as “One Fine Day,” because it is, every time I use it), a cream blush stick that combines pink champagne, sheer watermelon, and soft coral to produce color payoff that you can build from sheer and natural to bright and cheery.
I love the natural light, creamy texture of the stick that allows your skins natural radiance to shine through. A swipe of the stick will leave a noticeable coraly-pink sweep that you can instantly blend into a soft flush using fingertips. The “pink champagne portion of the stick isn’t immediately noticeable when you first apply, but when blended, it creates a very subtle sheen that helps highlight and produce a multi-dimensional finish. Just smile, apply the stick straight to the apples of your cheek with the highlighter shade up, and blend with fingers in a circular motion.
Fine One One can also double as a sheer lip color if you tilt the stick horizontally and apply to your lips as you would any other lipstick. I recommend prepping the lips with a balm or even petroleum jelly for an extra dose of moisture. The product won’t run off your lips at all and leaves a very natural finish and color. Needless to say, a new obsession is born!
