It’s always fun to see a fellow blogger snag a modeling gig with a cool brand. In this case, I’m referring to actress, model and Trop Rouge blogger Christina Caradona, the new face of Ready to Wear designer Valentina Shah‘s Spring-Summer 2013 collection, which debuted this month.
Already seen on celebrities such as Alicia Keys and Cindy Crawford, Valentina Shah clothing is an sexy hybrid of old world beauty, inspired by Valentina’s days in Rome uncovering her grandmother’s vintage pieces, and modern chic, likely inspired by her 10+ years as a fashion executive. I was immediately drawn to this collection — her second thus far — because of its timelessness and versatility.
Each Valentina Shah piece has the ability to appeal to people with a unique and diverse sense of style. Take Christina, for example, whose style icons are Patti Smith and Audrey Hepburn.
“[They’re] both entirely different people and styles … but it’s their confidence and personality I’m attracted to,” said Christina, whose favorite pieces are the Khloe pant suit and Delphina blouse.
“I think it’s the layering I’m attracted to the most … [and] I’ve always found high necks extremely flattering,” she said.
As for Valentina’s style icons, she looks to Brigitte Bardot “for her timeless beauty,” Queen Rania of Jordan “for her utilitarian and sophisticated look,” Coco Chanel, and Freja Beja “for her versatility.”
“The brand is catered to the luxury consumer [who] looks for quality, timeless sophisticated pieces that she can wear in multiple occasions, from day to night,” said Valentina. “She is modern, [and] she has a sophisticated sensuality with an edge. Christina was able to capture that woman with an addition of her sense of humor.”
Starting at around $225, Valentina Shah is available at Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, as well as in select specialty stores. Expect to find pieces made mostly in Italy or in the USA, with all the fabrics sourced from Italy. If you like what you see, stay tuned for her Fall 2013 collection, coming in August.
