What do you think when you hear the term “sexy hair”? Soft, beachy waves à la Victoria’s Secret Swim Catalog? Yeah, me too. But how does that explain gals like Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway and Miley Cyrus? IMHO, they look just as sexy now — perhaps even sexier — than they did with long, flowing (and dare I say … generic?) locks.
For those of you who agree, consider checking out what Sexy Hair has to offer come June. The Chatsworth, Calif.-based line — perhaps best known for Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play, the hairspray in the big red can — is releasing a new product line dedicated to helping edgy hairstyles hold up. The new (unisex) line will feature black instead of red packaging, as well as products and tips designed to play up the drama and dimension of your hair.
“Red is big. Black is edgy,” said Sexy Hair Artistic Creative Director Rafe Hardy during a recent sneak peek photo shoot for the new line in Los Angeles. “We’re celebrating people who dare to be different.”
To show how versatile the new products are, the Sexy Hair team styled and photographed 25 hair looks using only four models who displayed “distinctive, unconventional beauty.” While some of the models had short-ish hair, brand representatives said the line was more about styling edgy looks than short-hair looks. In fact, the new line — name TBD — will likely replace the brand’s current Short Sexy Hair line (but don’t worry, they’ll keep the most popular products). Prices will remain about the same (in the $15–$22 range).
P.S. Also in the pipeline are new Sexy Hair tools! According to Sexy Hair Vice President of Marketing and Education Jennifer Weiderman, the brand will be launching their first line of styling tools in August. Stay tuned for more updates this summer!
