A month ago Chaps reached out to me with a style challenge — seeing that I now have a separate blog dedicated just to my personal outfits, I obviously could not say no. This spring, Chaps is all about two closet staples that every gal should own — the cardigan and the capri. How very Audrey Hepburn!
Of course the two items would go perfectly well together by themselves but as a city gal, I wanted to create both a weekday (fashion forward) and weekend (totally relaxed) look out of the pieces. See below how I styled the classics in my own way!
Day to Night
The slim tops called for a more voluminous bottom so I paired Chap’s white button down (machine washable, no wrinkle, best $39.99 purchase ever) with a fun printed, wide leg pant for something a bit more unexpected. Since my palette turned out to be black and white, I added a bright cardigan to complete the look. Any of Chap’s bright cardigans would work well for the ensemble, but I particularly loved this sunny yellow option.
I absolutely love this vibrant shade of blue — it goes with anything and everything. I love these capris with a slubby white tee (perfect as the days get even warmer) or more dressed up with a black top and jacket. You can pretty much wear them with any color for a great color-blocking effect — a style that I’m going to be rocking more of this summer. For a casual weekend look though, I just love pairing the capris with a light chambray shirt — the bright blue pants are a great alternative to traditional denim wash jeans if you haven’t bought into that whole denim on denim look yet. Shortly after I shot this outfit, I found a picture of one of the most stylish ladies ever — Aerin Lauder — pretty much wearing the same getup (I felt so validated!). This look is timeless and ageless.
Thanks Chaps for putting me up to the challenge and stocking my closet with some much-needed items! Let me know what you think of the looks!
