Whoever said that fashion can’t be innate has never met my baby. As soon as she wakes up and is scooped up from her crib, she insists on being brought to her closet so she can peruse her clothes and accessories, presumably to see if anything new has been left by a fairy overnight. I’ve had my fair share of fun collecting all sorts of cute girly stuff, as I can’t possibly have her fall behind on trends on my account! We wanted to share a few favorites with all fellow budding mini-fashionistas out there!
1) Mirasa. I recently stumbled upon Mirasa Design, which I just adore. “Mirasa” is the Hindi word for “heritage,” which is the theme the line is built around. It is inspired by the colors of the Indian landscape and uses traditional-style ari embroidery in its designs. Not only is the line made for the uber-cute contemporary baby, it’s also eco-friendly. For example, the animal-print t-shirt is hand-printed using azo-free dyes, and is 100% GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified. Each item in the collection has a hand-made element, which makes every piece so special. I’m a sucker for attention to detail, so I was immediately taken with the stitching accents around the sleeves and neckline. As for quality–this durable but soft cotton withstands stretching, washing, scrubbing, you name it! This collection is made to be functional and adorable, and since many pieces are gender neutral, it will last through two, three, four or more kids (not that I’m going there).
2) Seven Jeans. Thought only you could rock distressed denim shorts and fashion floral prints for the summer? Think again, and think adorably-chic in miniature sizes (“baby daisy dukes” as we call it)! Equally fashionable and innovative, Seven keeps baby as stylish as mom while the highest quality denim never falls apart despite multiple washes. The LA-vibe translates well to their baby line, and is made of the same premium denim as your version, complete with the logo squiggle on the back pockets. I am always so tickled when I see the denim shorts paired with her “Enfant Terrible” t-shirt from France, I can’t help laughing. The long straight leg white jeans are another gem- they go with everything, dressed up or down, and are low-maintenance for keeping clean. Just wash over and over to gain softness and personality. Your future Hollywood star will settle for nothing less than Sevens!
3) L’Occitane Mom & Baby Cream. Perhaps the most important accessory of all comes in the most adorable little tube, and it’s something baby and I can share already! This quick-absorbing non-greasy cream smells fresh and sweet, and works well on tiny hands and cheeks for added moisture at any time of day. The cream contains 7% shea-butter and is certified organic. The sweet almond oil and calendula extract soothe irritated skin and effectively combats redness. My mind is at ease knowing it’s been dermatologist-tested and free from parabens , synthetic colorants, and other irritants. Mom & Baby Cream comes in such cute packaging, it’s perfect for gifting an expectant mom to go in her hospital bag- any little luxury is so appreciated when a new mom is exhausted and wearing that toga-like hospital gown!
4) Junior Beads. Accessorizing starts early–as soon as our toy stacking rings were transitioned by our baby girl from into huge bangle bracelets, I went in search of something cuter (and safe, of course!). Junior beads are “kiddie chic, play safe” jewelry in a fun range of vibrant colors. The squishy beads and bracelets are ok to chew on (hello, teething!) since these 100% silicone accessories are heat-resistant and chemical-free, and easy to clean. We especially love the bracelets that glow in the dark- it’s pretty amazing to see pure wonder on our baby girl’s face when the lights come back on! She loves creating her own arm-party combinations with different colors and textures, and I can see the wheels turning in her little head. Future artist? Definitely a saavy dresser!
