Fitness & Health, HotelsThe US Grant Work It Lifestyle Program

USGrant

It’s almost a bit of a tradition here at TDO to pay a visit to the US Grant every time any of us are in San Diego. The glamourous hotel is one of our favorites in the city, thanks to its prime location, delicious drinks and cuisine, spacious guest-rooms complete with French modern artwork, opulent decor, and now exclusive personal training fitness programsWhen I was in San Diego last month, I of course, spent a couple nights at the US Grant and took the opportunity to try out the new Work It Lifestyle Program, complete with my own personal Pilates class!

fitnessThe Work It Lifestyle program focuses on business and leisure travelers who want to make it easier to get a good workout on the road. As a bride-to-be, I’m starting to take advantage of any and all fitness activities offered at hotels when I travel, and I could not have appreciated this more. Despite wanting to exercise, I have a tough time effectively working out while on the road because I am just not good at the gym. Even at home in New York, I mostly do barre workouts, yoga, Pilates, or spin class–all activities that are much more challenging when I’m not at my home studio. With the Work-It Program, The US Grant brings all these exercise options to their guests, right in the comfort of their “home away from home.” Guests have the opportunity to select some of San Diego’s best personal trainers, including Golden Champion Chad Yarvitz or Olympic rower Luke Walton, and pick their workout style of choice whether yoga, Pilates, boot camp, TRX, Booty Barre or strength training. If there’s one thing I learned on this trip, it’s that San Diegans take their exercise seriously, so you’re bound to be in good hands! After you’ve picked your trainer, the hotel sets up a custom exercise class that can either be held in the privacy of your guest room, the hotel’s fully-equipped fitness center, or even outside in Downtown San Diego. A workout that is designed to be efficient, effective, and convenient? Practically unheard of while traveling!

I opted for a Pilates training session–just the low-impact workout I had been craving after a weekend of bootcamp at nearby Rancho Valencia. Since I had turned my hotel room into an office, my trainer met me at one of US Grant’s private event spaces (complete with chandelier and all) and we set up mats for our hour-long workout. When it comes to Pilates, I definitely need one-on-one attention and it was fabulous having someone making sure that I was getting every move just right. Even though I didn’t even break a sweat during the hour-long class, I left feeling that it was definitely one of the most effective Pilates classes I’ve ever taken. For other guests that feel the same, the Work It Lifestyle Program also includes a customized take away workout routine so you can recreate the experience any time. And to feel really good after the workout? A bottle of SUJA Organic Cold-Pressed Juice of course, which is included with the package.

Guests staying at the US Grant will need to book 10 days in advance to reserve their trainer and workout of choice. The package can be reserved online at www.usgrant.net/rates or by calling 866-716-8136. Please mention promotion code LZPKG6-12. Ready to get started? Go ahead and meet your trainers!
