The first time I saw an electric toothbrush aside, it would be safe to say that I’ve never found any toothbrush to be *too* exciting. Until now. A couple months ago I was introduced to the Emmi-dent Ultrasonic Toothbrush and I have been obsessed ever since the first time I used it. Don’t let the word “sonic” fool you–this toothbrush is unlike anything else on the market. It’s the first toothbrush to use 100% ultrasound to clean teeth–that is, it uses an oscillating sound frequency–to break through plaque, gunk, and other bad breath culprits. And…you don’t even have to brush with it–the bristles transmit the ultrasound waves to clean teeth without any movement of the brush necessary. While your average sonic toothbrush might oscillate twenty or thirty thousand times per minute, the Emmi-dent makes up to 84 million oscillations per minute, effectively cleaning teeth without any back and forth motion necessary. Don’t let that number scare you either, you can’t feel ultrasound– the company however, did add a slight vibration to the brush just so you know that it’s on and working. Now, I also have nothing against a little brushing (in fact, I enjoy it), but the ability of the Emmi-dent toothbrush to clean without friction is great for people who have recently had any kind of oral surgery and need to be extra gentle in certain areas.
The toothbrush also comes with a proprietary toothpaste, which works in conjunction with the ultrasonic toothbrush to release millions of nano-bubbles to reach (and clean out) all kinds of crevices in your mouth. This is especially great for people who have had gum issues in the past (um, that would be me) because the bubbles can get underneath the gum to remove bacteria that cause inflammation. Of course I still have to floss, but ever since I started using Emmi-dent I’ve noticed that my gums are much healthier and no longer bleed. I also personally love the minty fresh taste of the toothpaste…it’s hard to get me to stray too far from my trusty Crest… but dare I say, this one has replaced it as my new fave. And as always, the true test of if a beauty product is legit is if my boyfriend is into it. Not only has he procured his own Emmi-dent brush head, but he fought me for the last bit of that toothpaste. It’s safe to say we have a winning product here!
