Laura-Mercier-Dark-Spell-Collection-2013-Promo

After such a hot, wet and frankly, kind of weird summer (not gonna lie)…I’m looking forward to fall. While the summer thunderstorms are still raging, I’ve already begun dabbling into our fall beauty collections. At the top of my list is Laura Mercier’s Limited Edition Dark Spell Collection, which presents an astounding array of colors and concepts that define the mysterious and seductive woman. This cutting edge collection is a necessity for the dramatic femme who wants to make a statement! The eyes are the focus of this collection of dark grays and deep blacks then accented by rich lips, resulting in a smoldering, attention-grabbing look.

F13_BEC_MagicalEven a cursory glance at the Baked Eye Shadow invites more exploration: the silvery wet/dry formula allows for flexibility in application and looks which can be created. When put to use, it’s quite long-lasting, especially if applied with a damp brush to concentrate the shade. The silver is a steep and dramatic contrast next to the dark liners I’m bringing out for the season.

F13_FI_SpellboundThe Face Illuminator is also a feast for the eyes, a rose-gold shimmer presented baked into wave-like shapes. I love it for highlighting cheekbones and eyes, or even for a light dusting of shimmer all over the face and decolletage. The color is perfect and natural as it illuminates any complexion and gives that effortless polished look that raises the visage to an ethereal level; this is no mere mortal makeup. Only a little bit of the silky product since it is very concentrated and easy to produce the desired effect.

My favorite product from the line, however, is a classic Laura Mercier item, the Caviar Stick Eye Color which pairs perfectly with the Dark Spell Collection and is probably the most versatile to use with any makeup in your arsenal. I’m so pleased that Laura Mercier’s standards for top-quality were in full force when producing this liner: it is the perfect thickness for the upper lid, the creamy formula is so easy to glide on, and the crease-resistant liner is beautifully smudged with a fingertip to create a dark, defined eye which doesn’t require going over twenty times with a skinny pencil that’s been purposely dulled (oh, the tricks I’ll pull). Once the liner is set, it is in for the long haul–even at the end of a long night, it’s still well defined and does not run.

Laura-Mercier-Lipstic-MerlotFinally, to pull the look together, the collection’s Creme Smooth Lip Color in Angelic or Merlot is the perfect dramatic counterpoint to the dark shadowy eyes. The rich colors exude depth and passion, and are easily applied in one swipe for create texture and a polished look. The lipstick is formulated with pure olive oil and vitamin E–and you can definitely feel how nourishing it is even at first swipe. I highly recommend exploring this lipstick line, even though I’m so picky about texture and pigment, Laura Mercier’s line definitely make the cut. They have a gorgeous palette that’s well formulated, easy to apply, and stays beautiful for hours.

Usher in the fall with a Laura Mercier’s fresh new concept, and it will automatically bring some added drama to your next night out.
