One of the things I like best right now about Rimmel London, besides the fact that Kate Moss is plastered all over their website, is their Fresh, Flawless Summer Face look. It’s super simple and puts focus on perfect skin and eyebrows — my key must-haves for “no makeup makeup” days. Best of all, it keeps you looking awake all day and translates easily to night if you apply a bold lip. The overall effect is both runway-inspired and fit for daily wear!
To get the basic Rimmel Fresh, Flawless Face, all you really need are four items (each under $10):
1. Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation — This SPF18 foundation feels almost like a tinted moisturizer but delivers more coverage than you might expect. (If you have very dark under eye circles or bold blemishes, you may still want to layer on a full-coverage concealer afterward.) I’ll admit, I was skeptical about the “match” claim at first (it looked a little too yellow out of the bottle), but I was surprisingly content with the results — and my coverage lasted all day.
2. Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil — A good brow pencil, IMHO, is firm but blendable, easy to sharpen and MUST come with a brush so you can brush your hairs in place and perfect the shape. This pencil meets all those requirements.
3. Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch — This is basically a mousse (cream) highlighter that sparkles under most light sources and leaves your skin looking brighter. Apply sparingly or you may look oily. I like to blend a touch right on my cheekbones to help bring them out.
4. Rimmel ScandalEyes Mascara — Your basic thick black volumizing mascara. If you like fat brushes, this one’s for you.
Optional: As you can see above, I added a few more products to round out the look. Since it’s summer, a little bronzer just under the cheekbones is appropriate — and works wonders to further define your face. I have been obsessed with Tarte Amazonian Clay Mineral Bronzer, $29, in Park Avenue Princess lately. (Watch out, a little goes a long way!) I also used two neutral eyeshadows (also Tarte) to even out my lids and add a tiny bit more dimension. For day, there’s nothing better than Chanel Rouge Coco Baume, $34. Yes, it’s expensive but it makes applying lip balm SO much more luxurious. (I even wear it overnight!) And for evenings out, I like to boost this whole look with just one product: Stila Long Wear Lip Color, $20, in Daring. That’s it! Try this makeup look next time you roll out of bed all droopy-eyed. I guarantee it will make you look and feel alert all day long!
