Fitness & Health, ShoesKick It Up

With my sister running in a race this spring, she’s motivating me to step up my fitness game. But it doesn’t hurt to have cute workout gear to help you along the way…starting with shoes! Who doesn’t love a new pair of shoes, right? These just happen to be for working out. The latest addition to my closet are these New Balance W890 sneakers, part of the Heidi Klum for New Balance collection.

Here’s a quick lowdown on specs you need to know:
– Made with mesh, with an 8mm drop and blown rubber outsole
– Has an enhanced ABZORB® crash pad that ups shock absorption and stability
– Lightest version of 890 shoe, featuring a responsive REVlite midsole, which offers “premium responsiveness and durability at a 30% lighter weight than other foams with comparable performance”

I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I’ve gone years without getting a new running shoe, so when I started looking, I really didn’t know what to look for. I polled some friends on what they loved, and got some recommendations. I finally settled on New Balance after many friends recommended a bunch of their styles, and the W890 version was just too cute to say “no” to.

I love the mint/black combo, with a little iridescent shine, which makes it fun, yet durable against actual dirt. At just under $110, the price isn’t too unreasonable, and even better, this is such a lightweight shoe that it makes running (and generally, any cardio) so much easier. My feet feel like they’re practically on clouds in comparison to before. The sole cushions your feet so well, especially as you land – and made a world of difference when I took at bootcamp-style class with (too many to count) jumping jacks. Overall, this shoe gets a solid thumbs up from me – on both style and function!
