Trying to get your body swimsuit-ready for the warmer weather? Now is such a great time to stock up on some fitness goodies to get in shape for summer. Like I’ve mentioned before (in previous posts), working out requires motivation for me, and cute clothes certainly help! Athleta has some really fun options, but I’ve actually never tried their activewear…until now. I was pretty impressed by the fit, fashion and function of the pieces I tried. Read more about the items I tested below.
As a yogi (can I call myself that?), I am always looking out for a great pair of leggings. The Chaturanga Tights seem to be a favorite of many fellow yogis, so it was definitely on my must-try list. The leggings are made of Pilayo – Athleta’s signature blend of Supplex Nylon and Lycra Spandex – with UPF 50+ protection. It has a teeny bit of shine, but I don’t think that will stop me from buying a second pair in the future. The pants also have a crotch gusset (a must-have in my book for any class situations) and a tiny pocket inside the front waistband. They move well with the body – not riding up or shifting too much – and wick away moisture pretty quickly. Additionally, these activewear leggings are so, so soft, but still sturdy. They are not too thick, but not too thin – perfect to wear during self-practice or group classes almost anytime of year. Best of all, it comes in Regular, Petite and Tall – so great for all heights.
Next up are sports bras! The Up-Tempo Seamless Bra has a simple, sexy t-back, which is great to wear under racerback tanks. It gives just enough support and is great for for low-impact or studio workouts, like pilates or yoga. It contain”natural silver salts to give the fabric lasting odor control” and wicks away moisture quickly to keep you relatively dry. I wouldn’t wear this one for activities like zumba or cardio, especially if you have a larger chest. (This one fits snugly, so make sure you size correctly.)
The Neon Pop Seamless Racer Bra is yet another comfortable rackerback sports bra that gives a bit more coverage and support. The “knit-in shaping reduces bounce” and “removable cups lend extra coverage.” The wider bands provide more support, so you could definitely wear this to the gym or for a run. Both bras are a Nylon/Polyester/Spandex blend, so they move easily with you without chafing.
For tops, I wanted to look for something that I could layer over another simple tank or sports bra. The Striped Chi Tank and Illuminate Tee were my picks. The Striped Chi Tank is a gorgeous cut that skims right over your body, made with a super soft, stretchy polyester/spandex blend. The scoopneck is ultra flattering. It’s also fairly lightweight, so it does cling a little – but it’s perfect for wearing on warm days just over a sports bra. I love the subtle stripes, and because I’m on the shorter side, the longer back to cover the bum. Lastly, the Illuminate Tee is a semi-sheer, airy scoopneck top that is great to throw on over a cotton tank. It has a looser, slightly boxier cut, so I’d pair this over leggings for the most flattering fit.
That’s what I’m working out in right now…how about you? What are your favorites from Athleta that we must try?
