The waning days of summer are bittersweet, the perfect backdrop for one last hurrah – an island vacation, in my case. As I jetted off to the Caribbean, I was most excited to have the new Tatcha Travel Set to keep me fresh and in tip-top beauty shape to complement a few days of rest and recuperation. The Japanese-inspired line was born from founder Victoria Tsai’s chance encounter with a geisha in Kyoto, whose legendary beauty and timeless porcelain skin is preserved in legend. Tatcha’s products draws from generations of beauty wisdom coupled with scientific research to produce a precious collection indispensable for those seeking the best of all worlds.
The Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm tops the charts for the most luxurious lip treatment I’ve ever tried. A 24-karat gold leaf overlays the clear, luscious gel. Did I mention the packaging is to die for? Reminiscent of beautiful rice paper and beautiful boxes in Japan, opening the balm is a ritual in itself. As soon as my finger touched the gold leaf, it delicately broke up and the first few applications left me with little shimmers amidst the intense hydration on my lips. Camellia Oil has been used for thousands of years by Japanese women to protect skin and hair, so I feel like I’m dipping into a little treasure when I smooth the moisturizing balm on my lips!
The Dewy Skin Mist is a light and dewy spray that is an instant refresher any time of day for both face and hair. I tucked the pretty purple bottle into my beach bag and kept hydrated for hours despite the hot sun. I couldn’t get enough of the mixture of Suqlane, Red Algae, and the Hadasei-3 complex which was incredibly soothing on hot skin and hair. The fragrance is very light and doesn’t linger long, which is perfect because my nose is particularly sensitive!
On my first full day, after a morning of gnoshing on fresh fruit and swimming in sparkling waters, I lit a couple of Diptyque candles, took a long shower, and treated my face to the Luminous Deep Hydration Lifting Mask. As I lifted the delicate gel-layer out of the package and onto my hot skin, I literally breathed a sigh of contentment as I felt the leftover airplane bloatiness melting away in the cool treatment. The mask promotes deep penetration of red algae into the skin. After 15 minutes (and some dozing off from sheer relaxation), I removed the mask and massaged the remaining serum into my skin. I couldn’t have felt any better, with smooth, tight, and firm skin.
